Can I just say??? No one talks about beetle Moses’s use of color. the colors are always so fantastic. so bright and full of life when I know a lot of similar cartoonists (myself included sometimes) think that dry humor means drab colors

YOU are a silicon-based lifeform, a traveller from distant worlds, and you have made planetfall on Earth in the year 1973. Your mission: gain the trust of the human race and infiltrate their society without revealing your true origin, paving the way for the eventual full invasion a decade from now. Let’s get something important out of the way first: they don’t send their best and brightest in the vanguard reconnaissance ships. You were never the top of your class, and the diagnostic data your ship is capturing is probably worth more to your overlords than anything you’ll achieve personally. But as I previously implied, you’re not really smart enough to realise that, so you’re going to give this your all. By the time your bosses land in their capitol ships the size of cities, you’ll have gone from some no-hoper with a chip on their shoulder to a respected leader within earth culture. You emerge from your ship, your human-skin camouflage flickering into place, and after hurriedly concealing it behind some debris you march right into town. As luck would have it, the humans here are engaging in a primitive bloodsport where they goad dangerous creatures into attacking them and attempt to survive - you read about such rituals in the orientation guide during your unfathomably long flight. With your grasp of advanced technology, you’ll have no problems claiming First Place (another thing you recently learned about) and establishing your position as King Champion of Men.
