Being active on social media after a long break is more difficult than i imagined
Guess who might come back next year π

Friendly reminder! If you want to support the right to read by purchasing a banned book or taking it out from the library your impact will be much greater if you choose a living author. Orwell is great and all, but he's not doing much with your money.
Might start using bsky as a sketch dump to keep myself active here

Samurai Jack is a classic. And it's fueled by its rich images -- the backgrounds, animation and visual storytelling.
Genndy Tartakovsky was sick of dialogue. He wanted to take a risk on a visual series, and Cartoon Network supported it. We explore:

Sometimes i think i would really love if there were an animation community to share thoughts and ideas with people
Just took a shower and suddenly the project for my final year research is clearer in my head. Now i must see if it's also doable...
Nevertheless, blessed be the 12 am shower!
It's hard to focus on working when there's not much to look forward to but I'll try.
Currently I'm primarily thinking of buying a hard cardboard and gesso to finally start painting something.
Or at least buy a big good quality paper to draw on it
How come the universe chose to make 1 small good thing happen in my life, followed by multiple misfortunes??
Will it knock it off with this pretentious meaningless bad joke set already???
Satoshi Kon was a master filmmaker -- and a master storyboarder. His detailed sketches were blueprints for his movies.
Take Millennium Actress. He spent nine months boarding it alone, on a quest to make a great film with a small budget. We explore:

"i did this with my own hands" is an expression for "I'm the one to blame for this". Idk if this saying translates well into english
I did this with my own hands by not working on the presentation in time but it's eatin me up man
Patiently waiting to get a response to my application to a symposium.
And by patiently i mean not managing to fall asleep @ 3 am because of it + the other presentation i have to work on and have it done for this Thursday.

Dianne Jackson mastered the art of turning illustrations into animation. She did it in her film The Snowman, in the Peter Rabbit series and more.
Millions know Jackson's work, but few know about her. Our new issue tells the story of this great artist: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/the-unsung...
Planning on focusing more on what i have to do for my doctoral paper at the end of the year. I don't want to rush everything in the last moment as I've always done
I'm not against it or anything, just curious. If that's the case i might start using it in that manner.
For now I'm just a lurker/subscriber
Quick question: is it just me or are some people using substack as Tumblr 2.0?
I thought it was just for newsletters and stuff but I've seen some posts that look like or give the vibe of old Tumblr
Ate the most cursed chicken wrap of my life. Hours passed and I still haven't recovered. Maybe I'll find some convenience store sushi to cleanse its taste.
#ACenturyOfCinema, movie 65: 1980
BUBBLE BATH (originally HabfΓΌrdΕ)
I'd think it's safe to say this Movie and I did not gel very well.
Animation is in a weird spot for me. On one hand i (sadly) became a very pessimistic person due to my longterm unresolved mental health issues. But on the other hand no matter what, with all the terrible news it gets, animation still is the only thing i keep being optimistic and cheerful about.
what a godawful few days these have been. Good thing i managed to take a long slow walk and cool off all the emotions i built up recently.
But hey, at least i managed to apply to that conference!
Werner Herzog is directing his first animated feature, 'The Twilight World.' Psyop and Sun Creature Studio are producing the film, which is targeted for 2028 release. Details here:
"Flow" won the Oscar for Best Animated Film β‘
Update: I finished it! And my coordinator gave me the okay to send it! π
I must mention this is not the actual presentation but the text describing it that i needed to write to apply in the first place.
Will i be able to finish a phd presentation in time for its deadline (roughly one week left) + stop postponing contacting my phd coordinator for help?
I don't know but we shall try and see!
My philosophy teacher really liked my essay on the concept of "techne" in my phd subject (experimental animation).
Got a 10 for it! Brick by brick!!!
