if ferry service to Foster City -- proposed in some long-term visions -- ever materialized, the routes could be modified & operated with the same number of shuttles.
this would significantly benefit commuters.
aside from adding late night trips to the existing 251, the following two lines -- which could be run by smaller shuttle vans -- would provide service areas of Foster City that don't have local bus service, add a connection to Downtown San Mateo Caltrain, & a faster connection to Hillsdale Caltrain.
a Foster City proposal inspired by a friend concerned with not having enough options to get around & not late enough service...

...significant cost savings, which could be used to fund local service expansion beyond the 'current resources' scenarios.
- If WestCAT's operational costs are notably lower with smaller vehicles (e.g. cutaways), then they could be used to provide service to lines 31, 33, & 34 at a lower cost.
...'current resources' scenarios involves shifting some resources from peak hr to all-day service. If there are any resources left, you could operate a couple LYNX trips to serve Hercules to SF commuters.
- However, ending payment for usage of Salesforce Transit Center bus bays could produce a...
what about LYNX?
- WestCAT's post-pandemic ridreship recovery is signfiicantly higher among local lines than transbay/express lines.
- Given WestCAT uses ~21-23 buses during peak hours (around 6-10am, 3-7pm) and ~14-16 buses off-peak, both...
differences between 'current resource' scenarios:
- whether to operate service to Alfred Nobel as its own route or as part of JPX
- 31 Tara Hills circulator: whether to operate a Ridgecrest loop, which would require frequency to fall from 30 to 40 min unless more buses are added to operate the line
SCENARIO 2b)
requires 18 buses
increases local service frequencies, coverage in areas listed above, but LYNX service is limited or eliminated in order to do so.
SCENARIO 2a)
requires 20 buses off-peak, 18 buses during peak
increases local service frequencies, coverage in areas listed above, but LYNX service is limited or eliminated in order to do so.
- requires more resources: in total, 23 buses during peak hrs, 21 off-peak.
- dramatically increases local svc; coverage in Tara Hills, Crockett, & parts of Pinole; leverages timed transfers btwn local routes & expresses to ECDN BART & SF for a strong network.
- more connections to CCC🎓
So I heard WestCAT is looking to do a network redesign, so I decided to calculate the amount of existing resources & make a redesign of my own...
1) VISIONARY SCENARIO
requires more resources: in total, 23 buses during peak hrs, 21 off-peak. ('current resource' scenarios included below ⬇️)
I LOVE NETWORKING
Could provide a connection from Livermore to Union City (BART) & across the Dumbarton (to Caltrain/job centers on the Peninsula).
(7/7 I think)
- 53X: serves Tracy, the southern portion of Mtn House via Grant Line Rd, then onwards to Lawrence/Sandia. Uses Altamont Pass Rd to bypass unreliable fwy traffic.
- DBL: restores Antioch, Oakley, Brentwood express svc to Lawrence/Sandia which existed in the early 2000's (&, w/ a faster route). (6/?)
- 93X: same as existing route
- 24X: to provide commute hr svc to WC BART to parts of Danville that would otherwise be w/o service. Inspired by LAVTA's 580X.
- 580X: same as existing route
- 20X: same as existing route
- 51X: express route from Mountain House to E Dublin BART (5/?)
Would serve the Naval Weapons Station Development if that ever happens. By stopping at Martinez Amtrak, this proposed (re)route would allow anyone going to WC BART or points south from the Y with a direct connection to a more frequent express bus & add to regional connectivity. (4/?)
the corridor, including 4 BART lines.
- 201X: combination of SolTrans Y, CCCTA 99X, Tri-Delta 201X (w/ extension into eastern Pittsburg, Antioch). 99X & 201X are both expresses that use CA-4 to get to Martinez Amtrak, w/ one ending @ N Concord BART and the other coming w/in 3 min of the statn. (3/?)
Seattle's regional bus network & discussions w/ others interested in improving transit.
Route Descriptions:
- 680X: Along I-680, from Martinez Amtrak down to Warm Springs BART. Replaces the 98X, 95X, 96X, 97X, 92X with more frequent service and a one-seat ride to major destinations along... (2/?)
While many people can get around the Bay with BART's frequent service, many others are along corridors (like 680) w/o adequate, express svc to take them where they need to go. Some corridors feature duplicative express services from neighboring agencies.
This proposal takes inspiration from..(1/?)

why does this classroom have VTA articulated bus seats

never did I expect to come home to impressive bike/ped safety infrastructure
wait when you delete one message in a chain on BSky it doesn't delete the rest?? this was in response to me saying there's no integration between ACT & RTD but tschuy meant Tracer vs RTD
no idea on the rest but many Tracer routes & RTD's commuter routes to Dublin BART, Stockton, & Lathrop serve Tracy Transit Center.
wait I misread this
