I do think a lot of us weren't fully prepared for how slow and methodical Briere was actually going to be.

I'm guilty of it too. It's easy to get anxious and apathetic when you're still here in March with another season fading.

When he said they were gonna take their time, he wasn't kidding.

The Bobby Brink trade created a crucial opening in the Flyers' logjam at wing There's a lineup spot open now that the NHL trade deadline is over. It might be Alex Bump's time to come take it, or soon enough, Porter Martone's.

The Flyers' wing logjam is here.

Bobby Brink was the first casualty of it with his trade to Minnesota.

But it might be Alex Bump's turn, and Porter Martone is on his way, so they need the room.

Danny Brière's starting to make it:

Why the Flyers held off on a Rasmus Ristolainen trade: 'It just did not make sense value-wise' There was buzz, there were calls, but ultimately, there wasn't an offer on Rasmus Ristolainen that Danny Brière and the Flyers saw worth it to act on.

They kept Risto.

The Flyers' trade deadline moves, as they happened A recap of the Bobby Brink trade and the other moves the Flyers made, or didn't make, ahead of Friday's NHL trade deadline.

Ristolainen is still here.

Brink went to the Wild, and the Flyers got the guy who went one pick after you know who.

A recap of the moves and rumors from what ended up a pretty tame deadline day:

With OT winner, Flyers' Matvei Michkov starts to recapture his magic Matvei Michkov looked like the star the Flyers need him to be again in Thursday night's comeback over the Rangers.

And for the record: I believe Hurts is elite in his own distinct way.

He lost the first time, but he's the only current QB to keep the promise of coming back to win a title.

That ring, that parade mean so much.

You don't need the best QB to win, just look at Jalen Hurts and Sam Darnold Conventional thinking in the NFL still says you need an elite QB to win. But the past two Super Bowl champions say otherwise.

You can argue about elite QBs until you're blue in the face.

But your team really doesn't need one to win.

Good is more than good enough with the right fit.

Just look at the Eagles and Seahawks:

Drake Maye is the newest 'he'll be back' quarterback, but Jalen Hurts is the only one to have kept that promise Drake Maye and the Patriots can only hope they have a trajectory similar to Jalen Hurts and the Eagles.

"He'll be back."

It was said about Joe Burrow, Brock Purdy, and now Drake Maye after they each lost in the Super Bowl.

But it's so much easier said than done, rare even.

Only one active QB has actually made the journey back to win it: Jalen Hurts.

There will be nowhere for Nick Sirianni to hide if the Eagles' new offense sputters An old guard has effectively been cleared out. Sean Mannion is coming in to lead a revamp of the Eagles' offense. If it fails, Nick Sirianni will be all out of excuses.

The Eagles had to look for a new OC again after another post-Super Bowl tailspin.

They picked Sean Mannion. He's revamping the entire offensive staff and scheme.

Nick Sirianni's the remaining constant.

But if this fails, there's nowhere to hide.

The Flyers skated into their break a boring, low-event mess.

And the Phillies? I mean...they're there.
