So good to see someone has sunshine! We've had none in the UK. People tease us about the weather here but this is without doubt the worst winter any of us has known!

Dahlia flowers bloom in the garden at Bishops Auckland, spreading petals the colour of dark wine and thick cream
Oh heavens. I looked at the weather forecast for the next week. Don't do that, look at this picture instead! #winterblues #hope
A giant dahlia spreads it's curling petals in shades of peach and pink
Your daily dose of not-grey. #notgrey
Subtle shades of peach, tobacco and soft blues fill the sky as the sun goes down.
Do you remember when we had skies... proper skies with clouds contrails and colours? This winter of dead greyth and mist can't last for ever.
A swirl of petals at the heart of a pink red rose forms an almost abstract image.
Gardening this week has been entirely about mud and manure so I'm taking a minute to remember a rose from the old house. It greeted us in October when we moved in 15 years ago and happily flowered from May to November, producing up to 50 blooms at a time. I wish I knew its name.
Shamelessly pink and frilly cherry blossom against a blue sky.
It's a dull and soggy winter here in the UK so I'm in denial, looking ahead to the cherry blossom in March. I have a new garden and prowl it, looking for signs of life and evidence of what plants might be hiding under the soil. #springiscoming #greenshoots
Thanks Gillian. I'm always willing to fling myself face first in the mud if it results in a good angle. ๐คฃ
It's snowdrop season! The first flowers of the year always cheer me up but they really look their best in the sunshine, as these do from 2022. #snowdrops #galanthophile
Colourful packets of seeds cover a table in a jumble of pinks, golds and purples.
After what feels like weeks of rain I'm done with winter and done with hoping for snow. Having just moved house (and, more importantly, garden) I'm now dreaming of the spring and summer. I'm going to have to shift tonnes of paving but no garden was built in a day ๐ #newgarden #gardendesign #spring
Peaty red water has risen to surround a copice, creating an abstract pattern of dancing shadows cast by the slender branches.
Water levels have recovered after a long dry summer, creating unexpected new landscapes.
Winter sun filters through the birch at an old quarry in the Peak District. Once a scar of tumbled rocks, nature is taking it back.
On a bus once, I sat next to a man from one of the old soviet republics. He looked out of the window at unremarkable winter fields and, deadpan, said, "Your country is very beautiful." I couldn't see it in that moment but I am often grateful to him for reminding me to see with fresh eyes.
A clear and still day on the North Sea coast gives way to a peaceful sunset of soft greys and pinks.
Take a deep breath in and out and let the cares of the day melt away. #calmviews #peace
Low winter light sinks through the trees, illuminating a puddle that tells you the magical snow scene won't last. Enjoy it while you can.
Increasingly it looks like the snow covering so much of Europe and the UK even, will miss us in Yorkshire. I have mixed feelings. It can be so hard for friends with mobility issues but I still find snow magical. #snowscene
Not at all. People don't talk much on Pinksky, do they? Maybe we should change that?
A old beech tree stump seems to be pulling a face.
A tree in need of a hug, if I ever saw one! Hug a tree today #pareidolia
Hoar frost turns a simple wire fence into tinsel on a blue day in January 2024
Scotland and bits of Wales have snow but we're still waiting in Yorkshire. This picture was taken last year. It was the most beautiful day I have ever seen. #snowscene #hoarfrost #snowylandscape
Birch trees against a sky of tobacco browns and stormy greys
This week I learned Birch trees rarely get older than 70 to 90 years. Still lovely though! #treelover
Sun filters though baby giant redwoods in a royal park in Surrey, England.
The UK now has more giant redwoods than the USA. I'm sure at least half of them must be in the Royal Parks in the south. My parents had one if their garden for years but they thought better of it. If it had stayed it would probably have taken up a quarter of their garden by now!
Heavy snow blankets the woods north of Sheffield on December 5, 2024.
Snow in the UK rarely hangs around long enough to look beautiful under sunny skies so to enjoy it, you have to get out right away before it melts. It's still magic though. This was January 5 last year. #snowscene #wishingforsnow
Christmas day sun filters through the trees, bracken and Heather round a pond
Sunshine and blue skies for Christmas. If you can't have snow, then that's the next best thing. #woodland #christmaswalk
Golden sunshine burns through the morning mist on Boxing Day 2024.
Found it. The sun burned through the morning mist on Boxing Day last year as I walked down through the local woods to watch the sword dancing. I love the dog. Have you spotted him? #woodlandbeauty #naturephotography
A miniature model shows an archeologist's office or perhaps a museum basement storage area packed with artefacts from around the world.
I was looking for a beautiful picture to share when I found this one of a miniature I made of a museum basement. I love making miniatures because you can just take a scrap of leather and a single a4 sheet and make a book or a pebble from the garden can be made into a tiny cycladic sculpture or venus
Two. It dances somehow, like the light through the trees would as you changed your angle.
Sun filters through a birch, melting the hoarfrost that covers the ground like thick velvet.
It's getting cooler now after a patch of very unsettled and wet weather, raising my hopes of snow in January, if not over Christmas. This was taken last year on one of the most beautiful days I have ever experienced. #peaksnow #frost
The sun rises over Whitby harbour , painting long shadows over streets finally quiet in December after a long tourist season.
Nature is my happy place but I have a soft spot for Whitby so here's a rare pic without crowds of tourists. #whitbyharbour #Yorkshirephotos
Thankyou. I'm trying to relax into my weird and hope that I'll find other people who like the same things. ๐
Thankyou. I'll do that.
The sun pierces through the winter clouds to light a bench overlooking Ladybower Reservoir.
The reservoirs of the Peak District are overflowing again following the summer's drought. #winterwalks #winterscene
Hammered copper and silver lichen and bracket fungus awaiting a plan
Metal bashing is good for the soul, if not neighbourly relations. I have been making lichen and brackets and am wondering if I can remain enthusiastic long enough to decorate a load of books, decorate an entire book case or create a jewellery collection. #fungilove #fungiart #coppersmithing
Hoar frost coats the thorns of a Hawthorn bush forming a glorious pattern of crystalline, ephemeral beauty
It's been raining for what feels like weeks and even when the sun does come out, there is mud everywhere. January however brings the possibility of beautiful, clean snow. Nothing cleans muddy boots like stomping through snowdrifts!
