go for an absolutely excessive solar strategy and include a power to gas plant in the mix of grid storage mechanisms.

An edited version of the XKCD comic #2347 titled "Dependencies"

It shows a large stack of irregularly sized blocked stacked on one another. They are labelled "The Global Economy"

In the lower right there is a single small block that is clearly supporting the entire tower above it. It is labelled "A Very Narrow Strip Of Water Between Iran And Gulf States"

Democracy Briefing: The Hidden politics behind NZ’s opinion polls Friday’s Taxpayers’ Union-Curia poll was a political earthquake.

"When a lobby group pays for a poll, a lobbying firm conducts it, a former party operative analyses it, and a newspaper publishes the results with quotes from the lobbyists, then that is not independent journalism. It’s a supply chain of influence, and the public deserves to understand that."...

Yes, we're frustrated at the cost of living crisis that's getting WORSE under your "leadership". frustrated about the economic recovery that's going BACKWARDS under Willis' stewardship

Ya know, the things u said u'd be laser focused on and have made worse!

Keir Starmer and David Lammy are taking an extraordinarily dangerous gamble with our individual liberty This week, MPs will vote on the second reading of the Courts and Tribunals Bill. Don’t let the anodyne name fool you – this is one of the most revolutionary pieces of legislation in our…

Labour's core voters, on which its re-election entirely depends, are crystal clear about this: they absolutely hate its illiberal, intolerant, draconian, rightwards turn. Hence the total collapse in support. So how does the government respond? #SuicideMissionπŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

yes my extremely lovely neighbours separated and they've just finally managed to sell after months and months and months. listed with one agent, couldn't get a sale, took it off market for quite a while, then went through it all again. I'm really sorry to see them go but hopefully they are happy.

It'd be a totally different matter if they were replacing one house with these three, but they're replacing 12 apartments.

I can't quite figure it out because tbh it all seems irrational, but it feels like it's been built to live in. It is extremely nice, but even if I had the money (and I very don't) I don't think I'd want it for anything that much $$$.

Two more will grow up beside it rwponsonby.co.nz/auckland/pon...

The city views from whatever is going up in that site will be _incredible_. Absolutely fantastic all along that side of the ridge.

There's a new mixed mode development just finishing off across the road from the site in that demolition photo and it seems like they sold ok and they were all expensive as heck. If you get a bit of elevation and have modern sound insulation I think a lot of worries should go away.

There's no control group but I feel like 'the market' is very clearly telling them it's not what was wanted. If they'd replaced the 2 story tired apartments with 3-4 stories of 1 & 2 bed character apts it would have been much easier to start selling and probably made more money.

09.03.2026 01:45 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 3 πŸ“Œ 0

3 stories, 4 beds. extremely good construction, loved watching it go up. but they've replaced 12x1 bed (_whole thing_ sold for 4.1m), with 3 verrrrrrry high end places (each selling 4m+). seems stupid, and considering the first one still hasn't sold also seems like a massively risky project.

there's the most insane development a couple of streets over from our house. there were 12x 1960s apartments, needed remediation, all bowled to build new housing. the apts went for ~600k each. the first place of the new development is up for sale now for mid-4m and not selling. total nutso bananas

A chocolate fish for the first journalist to ask Luxon or Willis "Will you take full responsibility for the rise in inflation this year due to Geo-political events, considering you demanded the same of Labour during the last election campaign?" #nzpol

And the talk of some unspecified automation coming to save them? Bro, if your data fucking sucks no automation is going to solve it. You need smart people not PowerApps integrations. Whole place reeks of incompetence.

Dad hits out at 'concerning' gaps in AT injury data after mass assault of daughter on train An OIA shows AT does not separate injuries caused by crime from slips or falls.

Bloody embarrassing. Especially the Auckland Transport manager who appears to think that people are only angry because she hasn't calmly explained that actually AT are in an even worse shape than we thought. The whole organisation needs a total overhaul. www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/auckland-...

The front of the National Party agreeing that NZ's infrastructure outlook should be an apolitical one - a position that Labour seems to agree with - is staggering given their shredding of anything vaguely meaningful just two years ago.

I would not trust them as far as they could be thrown.

I played it with some appley friends, ages ago but long after it was ancient, they were so sentimental about it. They really thought it was good. It wasn't.

Also, people don’t want to accept it but he wasn’t a good Air NZ CEO either. I would hazard a guess he also wasn’t a good Unilever exec. Just because you have the job doesn’t mean you are good at it. Leadership skills ARE transferable and there’s zero proof he is suitable for anything high profile.
