I for one am astonished that having watch the last guy being abused, mocked and hounded out of his job after a slow start, the millionaire Steven Gerrard decided he didn't need that in his life.
Genuinely perplexing.

Clarke deserves zero credit from that win last night. Watched his side be utterly outplayed for an hour and evidently had no idea how to change it. Comeback was 100% jam and nothing to do with the subs he was eventually forced into making.

I'll offer up Celtic fullback Alastair Johnston.
Enjoyed the historical context. Not a problem unique to Italy sadly - seen teams in the English and Scottish top flights field teams made up entirely of foreigners this season.
Are Verona outliers for this in Italy or is it widespread?
Here's what literally nobody has asked but I feel needs saying. Dreamtime by the Stranglers is actually a really good album. Bored of people slaughtering it because it's not 'classic' Stranglers.
Always The Sun
Nice In Nice
Shakin Like A Leaf
Too Precious
Cracking stuff

So just to be clear, the guy playing up front and scoring for the Championship leaders in England doesn't get called up for Scotland but the Birmingham benchwarmer does? Genius from Steve Clarke.
Both Sunderland and Wolves starting with zero English players today.
That doesn't feel like a good thing for two clubs with traditionally strong local identities.
I'm not sure it does, at least not entirely. You're spot on about it being a disastrous night and deffo the quality of football is poor but the punters are still turning up in record numbers so there's something they're getting right, albeit probably by accident.
So that's the Scottish teams in Europe been knocked out of every competition it's possible for them to have been knocked out of so far.
Decent showings from Hibs and Utd but still a grim picture overall.
Quite right - and Napoli.
In much cheerier news, I see your latest book is out. Huge congrats - on my must buy list. Is there a paperback release planned?
Number of Scots in tonight's starting 11s:
Hibs - 4
Aberdeen - 1
Linfield started with more Scots than the Dons.
Desperate times. Quotas needed.
I'm a huge advocate of Scottish clubs playing Scottish players but I really don't see how any club with genuine Champions League ambitions can be starting James Forrest.
Happy to announce I've newly discovered the music of John Martyn.
Not only does he appear to be brilliant, there are decades worth of music to work my way through.
Happy Thursday everyone.
Lot of talk about the English lass playing with a fractured leg. Fair enough. Impressive.
But here's proper nails in the Scottish women's game.

Scientists suggest that the charisma vacuum created by a Sinner v Djokovic match could in theory consume the entire world. But only if it goes to five sets.
Somehow seems appropriate that Budweiser is the official beer of the wholly unappealing club world cup.
Relistening to the frankly brilliant and underappreciated Dogs In The Traffic by the mighty Love & Money.
Nice one

Did you see the game Alex? Slicker was terrible. Looked terrified and like he'd never played in goal before. This could genuinely be a career limiting performance. Feel for the lad.
Josimar deserves support - a vital voice in football @philippeauclair.bsky.social

This assumes that the likes of Chelsea will treat this as anything more than an extremely well paid pre season friendly.
Can't just be me that thinks of Asterix and Obelix any time I see the word 'menhir'?
It's got some serious colour to it has that.
You're at it. That's broon sass if ever I saw it.
There are wrong 'uns, and then there's the good guys picking up slices
Oh I need to get one of those bendy beer glasses.
Been following Liam Henderson's season with Empoli so if your guys felt like having an off day....
Serves Celtic right does that. Been sloppy and lazy for most of the second half. Aberdeen level despite offering virtually nothing all game.
That's a great picture.
Clegg really is completing the move from 'quite nice chap who I'd probably vote for' to 'big tech shill liked by no-one'
This is true. Amazing how many Man U fans I see claiming not to have wanted him sold yet hounding him when he was at Old Trafford. Couldn't be happier for him.
