Todayβs #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Corvidae, any bird of the Corvid family. This is a Clark's Nutcracker. I can only see these birds when hiking in the Rockies; not as often as I'd like!

Birding along the Gulf a few days ago, the tide was out. I loved all the seashells dotting the flats where the birds rested and foraged. Here's a Great Blue Heron ready to wade in.

Those are beautiful! Do they grow voluntarily or do you plant them?
Blue skies, mountains, wildflowers... Can't wait to return!

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #SideProfiles, any bird side on to the camera. Here's a male Northern Cardinal taking a moment before heading back out.

Thanks, Richard. It took a few tries, with the wren popping in and out randomly and me chasing it, but there it is; a beautiful wren :)
It's just, their expressions lol. Love the gators!
Blanket flower and pollinator.

The #BirdOfTheDay alt theme is #LightAndShade, bird captures with lighting contrast. Here's an Orange-crowned Warbler sitting on the right perch for this brief.

Gallinule to the duck: You sure they're asleep?
The alligators: Those two still standing there?

Sometimes, #StickHappens, which in this tree it's almost a given. This time, the Cardinal managed a pretty unobstructed perch for me.

I saw this Great Egret yesterday, and looks perfect for today's #BirdOfTheDay Alt Theme, #Green. Apart from the bird being surrounded by green, its lore is also green at this time. That coloration indicates that the bird is in its breeding season.

An Eastern Bluebird standing on a knot on the side of a tree for #SmallBirdSaturday. This female, or perhaps immature bird, is waiting for the next opportunity to catch a bug.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #StandingInWater, any bird standing in water, and here's a Forster's Tern grabbing a snack.

Red-headed Woodpecker drilling a hole. Happy to catch this stunning bird in good light, since I've been wanting to see one of them for a long time. Happy Friday, indeed!

Thanks Rob!
Thank you!
Todayβs #BirdOfTheDay theme is #SteppingOut, birds captured mid step. This Great Egret shows just how elegant being caught mid step can look.

Thank you!
Long-billed Curlew, largest shorebird in North America and very beautiful too.

How sweet!!
Beautiful sparrow!
A Nelson's Sparrow surprised me yesterday while I was birding along the shoreline. Didn't even know about this species. It stayed close to vegetation, weaving in and out, but I still got a couple of pictures.

This kingbird gave us a hard time trying to figure out the species, because some of those species look very similar. The consensus was Couch's Kingbird. Lovely bird, regardless.

Thanks! Yes, every lifer is different and it is great when it works out so well :)
If only all my lifer encounters were like this! A Clapper Rail, a bird usually well-hidden in vegetation, stepped out into the open and started walking around. Even better for a picture, the dense early morning fog had dissipated by then.

Striking a pose, a Carolina Chickadee in the woods.

Thank you. They are beautiful and look so delicate.
If this Marsh Wren is hard for you to find in the photo, know that it was a lot harder for me to find in the reeds!
