It's been a thoroughly grim week, and its a thoroughly grim time generally. So here's a thoroughly wholesome picture of two absolute legends to help rekindle your faith in the universe.
As the world rapidly heads into #climate #overshoot I've noticed a disturbing pattern in journal articles recently.
I'll summarize it quickly in this thread π§΅

Speaking of Starmer's 'island of strangers', weird that it comes from the man who wants BlackRock, an American asset manager, to rebuild - and own - Britain.
We are back! π₯

How is it stable for a countryβs economy to live or die on 0.X% changes in growth? Surely that points to a fundamental problem with how we measure economic activity and who are the important players in it? This is why a theme park being built is seen as a win the UK, a log flume wonβt cut it mate.
Our Lucy was on @trashfuture.bsky.social this week to discuss the frankly inhumane cuts to PIP and disability benefits coming from government. Liz Kendall longs for the return of the work house. Check it out

A 10 year plan to make 30k jobs, in a region of 2 million people and it cost Β£7bn quid? Thatβs Β£230k per job. Canβt help but think it might be better to give that money directly to people. Why is government investment in the UK so expensive and provides so little for the cost? Is it consultants?
