Personally though, an up armored Fering Pioneer derivative with RWS up top for close protection/C-UAS IMHO is what the British Army should aspire to get as the base to replace Land Rover, then figure out if capabilities like C2 and ambulance is really needed in the- 16/n
steering. Now admittedly it weighs a whopping 8 tonnes, only has space for 4 passengers because the driver sits centerline like McLaren F1, I find it hard to see this thing can be modified for various other roles and perhaps of consideration to the Brits, it's... French. But other than that- 15/n

I think what's important out of LMV is to have a basic platform that can mostly go anywhere at a rapid pace with ease, is adequately protected, has long endurance(relatively) much like Humvees/Land Rovers of past, and- 12/n
interface and a big computer and comms hardware strapped to the storage space at the rear, enabling their work even on the move instead of the current approach of using a folded cab one has to unfold to use and be stationary? This comes with its own weaknesses but it's not like anyone expect- 11/n
An 8x8 truck in the vein of the HX series while LMV can act as the "picket", rapidly taking casualties from the hostile frontline and bringing them to the safer rear? Does a C2 version of LMV cannot exist by the addition of a wide area multifunction display for the crew in the rear seat to- 10/n

Deriving future LMV from a chassis available in civilian market, while enticing, also comes with its own issues especially since they are not really designed for military use. Making them armored robs some of- 7/n
"spartan" nature, but it would be wiser for these vehicles to be designed with a controlled cabin so the soldiers using them can find a relatively comfortable respite in them instead of having to weather the surrounding climate whether it's the freezing Nordic forests or scorching deserts of- 6/n
at high speeds. I think some of the footage that has been coming out of Ukraine of truck/van based platforms tipping over while maneuvering at relatively high speeds for whatever reason justify my disdain against such lumbering platforms even though they may perform- 4/n

A van/cab truck like option like the Bonetti F100X/Fuso/Ford Transit might be better in terms of capacity for payload & space but their longer, narrower wheelbase & high ground clearance that allows them to go through tougher terrain is a weakness factor in vehicle control attitude especially- 3/n

Replacing the iconic Land Rover and to lesser extent the Pinzgauer is- 1/n
is oh so eye watering. If it has a V-shape hull, climate control, and a cabin that's at least shrapnel and up to 50 cal protected, it would be perfect. But with that said, I have to point out Arquus Scarabée. It's a hybrid electric drive much like the Pioneer, but it has armored tub, 4-wheel- 14/n
then we start figuring out if we need overloaded versions of it for ambulance and C2 roles or strip it down for sexy SOF uses.
As a base, Fering Pioneer is actually the most interesting to me. I understand current configuration lacks a protected cabin let alone armored, but that performance- 13/n
adequately elsewhere. Yet platforms like Polaris DAGOR and Flyer Defense 72 offers very little value in other roles due to not only limited payload/space, but also lack of protection in both ballistic threats and the climate surrounding them. Perhaps SOF users won't mind too much of their- 5/n
A very difficult task not only because of the modern requirements, but also because across the years the vehicles had been customized in various variations for all kinds of roles that would be hard to consolidate into one base platform.
