π RFBerlin Discussion Paper! Lukas Delgado-Prieto & Alvaro JÑñez analyze Portuguese employment data to reveal how internal firm hierarchies amplify monopsony power, giving large firms greater bargaining power and causing significant welfare losses for employees.

Thank you so much for taking the time to check out my research projects, Jessica! Itβs really kind of you, and I truly appreciate how you promote the work of others π
Today's cool young researcher #econtwitter #econsky is @LaDelgadoP @unioslo who works on topics related to labor, development, immigration + firms
Excited to receive the 2025 JEEA Excellence in Refereeing Award. Much of our work is helping improve papers behind the scenes, often anonymously, so Iβm grateful for the recognition and humbled to be in such a top group, being one of the only two Europe-based recipients!
Oslo Marathon finisher π
Too much suffering after the 33th km, but got one of the goals (sub 4h)!
This week I was invited to present at the Workshop on Firm-Level Impacts of Labour Supply Shocks organized by @centaxuk.bsky.social in London. They are building superb microdata for the UK with an outstanding team of researchers, worth following their work!
Keynote on clinical trials by the amazing Metrics Master at CUFE in Beijing π¨π³
Saturdayβs training for the marathon! Is this the famous Oslo summer?
3) I hope this working paper (ludelgad.github.io/files/Assimi...) helps inform policy in a country that has been at the forefront of integrating refugees globally.
All comments and feedback are very welcome!
2) I find that only 10% of migrants held formal jobs, and those who did earned roughly half the formal wages of comparable natives.
Interestingly, approximately 50% of this gap is attributed to migrants sorting into lower-paying firms (much more than in other contexts).
1) For a while, Iβve been interested in two things: the slow transition to formal jobs for regularized migrants in Colombia and, for those who transition, what types of firms they get to work for.
To develop this, I examined the labor market integration of migrants with administrative data.
Buen detalle Dr. David!
Now we can say itβs official π₯³
Running my first 20k in Oslo, to then finish with a boat trip feels amazing!
Also offers amazing sunset views!
First time doing a poster session. In @rfberlin.bsky.social migration forum!
Amidst all the uncertainty and chaos we lately find ourselves in, it was fascinating to hear from Dean Karlan, former USAID chief economist, about unconditional cash transfers yesterday at UiO!
Cross-country skiing for the first time. Simply forgot the # of times I felt today π
