I seriously did not know this was a thing until today, I'm really not sure how ๐
But honestly it makes sense, having to crop as little as possible in post-edit certainly makes the quality better
I'm with you on the age thing mate haha
I was coming here to say something similar, it takes real skill to make those mundane everyday objects into something that looks so incredible
It's definitely part of VP that I would love to learn, & Jens is one of the best
And Usertaken, I keep thinking about that SH2 set you did(with the piano)๐
Just know that from now on, if you see me posting a portrait ratio shot, this is what I looked like trying to capture it in photo mode!
It genuinely has better results after editing, so I'll take it ๐
Thank you ๐
Kassandra is fast becoming one of my favourite game characters of all time
Not your fault at all!
Most of the feeds seem to have been messed up earlier, big chunks of posts missing in feeds/lists, but were showing on normal feed/discovery
Congratulations Crissy!!

Our moon ๐ฅน๐๐
Great tips Laeti!
I agree with them all, but the last point is probably the most important. Take shots in games that you enjoy, that you get a feeling from, that will definitely come across in the capture
I would much rather see a slightly less polished photo, but that had great vibes and emotions
Wanting a portrait shot? Game doesn't have a portrait mode? (most don't)
Try rotating 90 degrees in photo mode, then take capture sideways, then simply rotate to correct way up in edit
This does lead to some head tilting, BUT because you're not cropping image in post, you lose less quality/pixels
Thank you so much my love, and I was happy (as always) to send a moon pic to you first, as that's why I took it in the first place ๐ฅน๐๐๐
I really do appreciate it my love ๐ฅฐ๐
Ahhh...all those older portrait shots though, I may have to recreate some of them. But I do love learning new things and improving
The head tilt was definitely something ๐๐
Thank you Alakai ๐ฅน
Thank you ๐
Thank you so much Crissy ๐
Totally agree Turid, the sliders can be great, in photo mode and any editing software you might use
Sometimes experimenting with the extremes of the sliders, truly lets you know what they can do, you can then scale back to get the result you want. Definitely play around with the settings a lot
It's something I think about a lot on my uploads on here!
I'm sure there are many people who don't open the images up fully as they're scrolling, and so much is lost in the preview
(I always open them up, just because I know this)
The particles and shadows look incredible my friend ๐
This leads to less quality loss, but does result in comical head rotating during capture ๐๐ซ
I am going to add this in the VP tips thread on behalf of @chuuna-moe.bsky.social ๐
I feel like my life has been changed ๐
Okkkaaayyy
So all this time, when I've been taking portrait shots in game, I've been taking them in normal view (16:9), and then cropping them to say 3:4 or similar
After a great tip from my partner, where rotating them 90 degrees in game, taking capture sideways, then simply rotating in edit
I had such a great time with @2oongamer.bsky.social but a favourite was watching as he tried out taking portraits in game.
Idk whatโs sillier. Seeing what I also look like when I take portraits or knowing all the amazing portraits he has taken have all been him taking pictures far and cropping them.
What a chunk she is, the bestest of chunks (especially with the leg that always sticks out) ๐ฅฐ

I added a fair bit of texture within Lightroom. The texture slider can be great, but I find it only really suits certain shots, and to be used sparingly
Thank you ๐
Love the lighting!
I wish BlueSky didn't compress the images so much, especially on the preview, because this one looks even better when opened up fully
