Not Just Bikes is one of the best channels out there for underreported but vital info. How can we make sustainable or regenerative choices if we don't understand the actual cost of our decisions?
A good thing, & there are over looked additional yields, shade being one, heat another. Raised high enough for grazing &/or horticulture, they reduce evaporation & incr H2O infiltration. Earthworks needed in sloped areas. Tapping the heat is doable but more technical. Hot planets need shade.
There is still a lot of potential for even lower prices and cleaner materials in future.
One of the biggest joys have had while farming is rewinding and offering more wildlife habitat. Being surrounded by butterflies, birdsong, bees and bunnies while gardening just adds to the pleasure of it and enhances whole body/mind and spirit health.
I love the old growth forests of the Pacific Northwest not to say something about this. Some are at risk because BLM wants to allow more logging of protected land. There are several easy action items at the bottom of the article. We have 30 days. morethanjustparks.substack.com/p/blm-announ...
And, perspective - the problem with data centers and AI.
Iron air battery tech scaling up. We've used iron-nickel batteries from Iron Edison (now defunct) for years. Scale up of alternative energy storage is vital. pv-magazine-usa.com/2026/02/24/g...
We are working on a toolkit and guide for how to handle drought conditions regeneratively. Deserts have been converted with some of these approaches. The west is also facing severe drought because of a low snow pack, many of us are.
The good news is that there is a lot that can be done about it.
THREAD: Are you looking for ways to improve landowner adoption of better management practices that:
1. benefit biodiversity, climate resilience, water quality, and other valuable ecosystem services?
AND
2. generate economic and business benefits for landowners?
What challenges are you facing? >
Got to tour his museum at Tuskegee University a few years ago. What an amazing inventor, philosopher and scientist! He was practicing systems thinking in innovative ways back then. A deeply intriguing man whose work should be more widely known.
What are the best heat pumps/minisplits for cold weather and why?
Encouraging to see this project and other similar projects expanding.
This has been an ongoing problem that is exacerbated by ignoring it in favor of more acute and obvious problems. We all need water though.
Very cold tomorrow. In Florida, people are prepping to save their plants. I wrote a short article on some things we do to protect ours. If you run sprinklers, don't turn them off until most ice melts. Follow up article on how to aid plants hit by frost coming! substack.com/@permalife/p...
Discussion about mini-split heaters in cold weather. Best brands, best ways to operate. Thoughts?
Bare soil? Nature sends weeds.
Low fertility? Here come nitrogen-fixers.
Gaps in the canopy? Expect pioneer trees.
Itβs not random β itβs repair. We can either fight it or design with it.

If youβre in FL, January is one of our favorite months to garden. Cooler temps mean less stress, and the greens absolutely thrive.
Hereβs a quick planting guide for what you can grow right now.

I know insurance companies are modeling risks and reward clients for reducing risk, but how far beyond that are they going? jencapgroup.com/areas-of-spe...
Anybody working with insurance companies to get better building codes, etc, for resilience/adaptation to climate change?
My experience here has been 100% positive and productive. Followers and engagement have increased much faster than on Twitter/X. Quality of my feed has been great too. I've had to play with curation but it wasn't hard.
Too many homes are being rebuilt with the same vulnerabilities.
This is also true of homes in the path of hurricanes, floods, etc.
We're publishing a series of guides on how to rebuild not only more resiliently, but more regeneratively. Find out more here: pcx.earth/disaster
Not sure if this is the first, but why aren't all neighborhoods near wild area/wildfire interface built to withstand wildfire?
Good to see this happening. www.goodnewsnetwork.org/california-d...

This cute little guy is a Rotund-Resin Bee, a solitary native bee. This one is on our chaste tree; I've also seen them on our catnip (beloved by many native pollinators).
I love seeing them fly around, flashing their colors and their pollen - stored on their belly. Magical little fairy dust bees.
A solution to this growing concern.
My favorite hands thing is shelling pigeon peas while chatting philosophy with friends or semi-aquaintences I've roped into the task. One of the top joys in life, perhaps, for all of us.
This message cannot be repeated enough. People are making fortunes on keeping us mad at each other by spreading rumors.
Please help keep this essential world class government service that helps farmers and so many other Americans intact; write your Congressperson. Super easy and fast.
#Planttrees always, but also make every tree count. Biodiverse tree islands, native pioneer species, succession management (supporting ecosystems as they mature) and other nature based techniques increase benefits and survival rates!
