Three cheers for IL Governor JB Pritzker, Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson, Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, Illinois State Police Director Brendan Kelly, and all the other local officials who showed the feds that Illinois cops can beat protestors with the best of them.

I wish people would come to understand transphobia as systemic, structural, and pervasive so we could stop treating transphobia as explicitly limited to people saying "I hate trans people" and accept the way our society conditions us all to dismiss, diminish, and dehumanize trans people.

We watch discourses form around media messaging and I sort of wonder why we're not asking what large media companies have to gain by making marginalized groups fight each other to the death while they literally carry water for people who've committed the most severe crimes we have names for.

Also, on a darker note, I need to talk about how conspiracy theorists preference "hypothetical victims" - i.e. nameless, faceless kids trafficked and eaten by the Shadow Government - over Epstein's actual victims who have names, faces and can speak for themselves about their experiences.
Remember that the law is a legal fiction, it is not real, it is merely people with guns dictating what you can't or must do. And if they don't want to do so then those laws cease to exist.
The most marginalized population are young people, and they're being pushed further and further out of public spaces. That's because they're not seen as people, but they are certainly convenient props for the "culture war."
