Really fascinating resource. There's loads of great IDL that this could form part of. Would love to explore opportunities to get learners together from different communities to work collaboratively on this.

A light blue diagram depicting the sea, with the water's surface at the top, and just below it is an outline of the Mary Rose, with the depth (12m, 40ft or 6.7 fathoms). There is a line showing the seabed, which takes a rapid dive into the vertical...
On the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, we thought we'd answer a question that's often asked,
"If they raised the Mary Rose, why not raise the Titanic?"
Allow our scaled diagram to explain...

Where would you recommend someone starts with Sontag?
Phil Cook - Dawn Birds from Appalachia Borealis https://philcookmusic.bandcamp.com/track/dawn-birds
Amaro Freitas - Uiara (Encantada da Γgua) Vida e cura from Y'Y https://amarofreitas.bandcamp.com/track/uiara-encantada-da-gua-vida-e-cura
I've been enjoying these two albums of piano music recently. Amaro Freitas' album (Y'Y) came out a year ago, and the Phil Cook album (Appalachi Borealis) is out next month. Both have such a strong sense of place as well as a connection with the use of field recordingsβparticularly birdsong. Links β¬οΈ
Members of the collective worked together with AI to produce images of what an imagined future Nairobi could look like. This image shows mushroom like buildings towering over a set of similar but smaller structures.
Starting from the vision/mission/purpose at the core of this diagram, moving outwards on concentric circles, we can trace: The epics (significant chunks of work) that will be undertaken The features that will be delivered under each epic The benefits those features will provide for users The outcome (change in the real world) those benefits will deliver
Interesting things: virtual schools, systems thinking and design podcast ep, Kenyan speculative cities, approaching the creation of shared intents/outcomes, and social media use in fraught times. write.as/mrtomwebster... @404media.co @se-davidobrien.mastodon.scot.ap.brid.gy @lojammusic.bsky.social

"The regulation and governance of AI in EdTech has not kept pace with the evolution of the products, leaving pupils and schools exposed to potentially risky technologies being deployed."
Hugely important work on AI and edtech in schools from @adalovelaceinst.bsky.social and @nuffieldfoundation.org

What all of these have in common is the crucial question of "Who is driving AI development". When we can answer that, we can begin to consider whether this is a future we (in the widest sense of "we") want.
Finally, this discussion, hosted by the Edinburgh Futures Institute, brings together @olliebray.bsky.social, Louise Hayward & Theodore Pengelley (SQA) in a really good panel on AI & Scottish schools: efi.ed.ac.uk/event/the-fu...
This from the Turing Institute/Scottish Children's Parliament is so valuable as it captures children/young people's voice in the discussion: www.turing.ac.uk/research/res...
These issues of power when discussing AI and its impact are so important. Along with this @jrf-uk.bsky.social post, I've added a couple of other contributions to the discussion, specifically focussed on Scottish schools, below...
Really like this - really applicable to schools both in terms of vision/values/aims but also QI/improvement planning.
And then once again when those same students go onto work/lead in universities.
Really enjoyed this @joenote.bsky.social. Made me think about how student's perceptions of platformisation might change as children whose school careers were mediated by platforms move onto university (although I guess current undergrads did grow up in this way)....
I really like this from @austinkleon.bsky.social βGratitude Zinesβ. Would make a great Christmas activity for a class. Lots of examples and printable templates here: austinkleon.substack.com/p/a-gratitud...
A bright, confident Robin stands atop a log, its chest puffed out in full display of its orange-red breast. The bird tilts its head slightly upwards, as if preparing to take on the world with determination. Its slender legs are planted firmly, giving it the appearance of striking a victorious power pose. The surrounding mossy log and blurred green background provide a natural stage, emphasising the robinβs bold stance.
Strike a power pose, it's Monday.
