So, I guess itβs my birthday? I donβt know how to feel about that.
For now, itβs off to some new breakfast place and having a bit of a date day.

Absolutely gorgeous work!
Took a month+ but theyβre finally ready for paint. Iβve got some color schemes in mind but actually doing the thing is a different story. Excited to give it a shot.
Leaning into an urban snow vibe, Helghan vibes, or something off the wall like underhive gang colors.

If you can provide $3k checks for the entire middle class of America by taxing 900 people a little more, not only should you do it, but you should take it as a signal that your monetary system is broken
Aquilons built, priming started, & names brainstormed. Nice way to relax & recover this week.
I like the idea they work in smaller teams w/in the squad.
1. Commander with servitor & guard.
2. Melee spec. w/ plasma, las, & marksman.
3. Grenadier, heavy, las, & guard

Watching @peeve.bsky.social play Linkβs Awakening is a really wild experience. LA was foundational to my love of games & Peeve was one of the first streamers I enjoyed.
Seeing my childhood & adult lives collide like that is intense, especially just a few days away from my birthday. Itβs nice.
Wonβt be around much this week. Need some time to recover and exist.
Allegedly.
Has your backβ¦Like they did when they let veterans die, or be homeless, or be killed in combat due to subpar training, gear, etc.
Educated officers is one of the few things the military does somewhat correctly.
Hegseth is a fucking moron.
βHas your back while actively stabbingβ will be his legacy.
As of tonight, licenses of trans people across Kansas are being invalidated en masse, enabling the overnight criminalization of an entire group of people for going about our lives. Itβs often said you never know when youβre living through history, so let me assure you: thatβs whatβs happening now.
- Iβve lived here for 12 years but I go places Iβve never seen & meet all kinds of people. Got a running list of "new to me" restaurants to try.
- Lower pay & flexible schedule helps me keep my insurance while working. We have some extra financial stability, I can take time off, & itβs fun.

(cont) I tend to land a regular number of jobs. Friday/Saturday night during peak hours I can take home ~$60 in 4-6 hours.
- The UE Driver does what it needs to do relatively well. Basic GPS, directions, messaging with clients, etc. Itβs not great, but it works well enough.
π§΅5/?
(cont) The more βbad tripsβ you take, the more you seem to be offered as UEβs system now flags you as a βdesperate" driver.
- Uber is a giant corporation
Pros:
- Tips can be incredible. I typically make between $5-8 on a delivery. Some nights I make $20 on a trip.
π§΅4/?
Cons:
- Wages are terrible. You rely on tips. UE pays you less if youβre are projected to have a higher tip.
- UE Driver app is bad if you need support. Youβre typically directed to an AI auto reply machine of any issues.
- Some people don't tip. You can refuse a limited number of deliveries.
π§΅3/?
I get paid $50 for 18 food deliveries (to $150) or $20 for 25 rides (to $80). Uber is also offering you $465 for your first 58 deliveries in a month (~70 is my average/month). Iβm not going to try and sell you on it, but I can at least give you my pros and cons so you go in more aware.
π§΅2/?
Not what I'd normally share here, but folks need work & we all need money.
Iβve been doing Uber forβ¦about 6 months & Iβve made 405 trips. If you have interest in making a little extra money or are generally looking for work, feel free to use my link.

A pair of miniatures primed in black and "zenithal highlighted" in white. Left: Vashtiss from Games Workshop's Underworlds: Deathgorge. The white feels a bit thick, like it covers too much of the darker areas, & washes out some minor details Right: Tempestus Aquilon from GW's 40k Kill Team. The white is less heavy, loses less detail, but still feels like too much shadow is covered with white.
Tried some more zenithal handbrushing w/ these 2. Vashtiss(l) still feels like I'm too heavy & losing detail. Aquillon(r) went better but I'm not happy with the overall direction of the "lighting"
Next I'll try w/ grey vs white & a thinner primer.

Found a new editing program. Hopefully better shots soon & back on track with weekly studies.
This week has been a bit random for art. Hoping to have some writing to share today or tomorrow alongside some mini work.
To all of you who replied, thanks. I don't have the time nor energy to dig through the bots. If you are actually interested, want to discuss, send questions, info, etc, do so via DM.
A photo of a pair of miniatures from Games Workshop's Underworlds: Deathgorge box. From left to right: Cephanyr & Alathir. Each is snap together plastic, well detailed, and primed in a dry brushed black AK primer. Both are also dry brushed white giving a black & white look with good detail. The photo quality is low due to multiple file conversion issues so much of the minute detail is blurred out and fuzzy.

Each is snap together plastic, well detailed, and primed in a dry brushed black AK primer. Both are also dry brushed white and washed. The wash on the left miniature is a mix of paint, medium, & wash. The result is a dirty, too thick coverage. The miniature on the right has a similar problem but the wash is even thicker and has a grey coloration. The photo quality is low due to multiple file conversion issues so much of the minute detail is blurred out and fuzzy.

The photo quality is low due to being a photo of a photo but it provides slightly better detail than the first image.
Tons of resolution loss on these because of file type nonsense. Need a new photo program. 3rd image is better despite being a picture of the screen. Anyway, have some #miniatures.
Loved the b&w & the texture it added. Ran into issues with the wash. As always, learned something from it.

I didn't think posting relatively mundane feels about my artist search & asking for suggestions regarding the kind of process I was dealing with was going to land me right back in "filtering bots hell."

Had to push weekβs study to next week. I was going to start a different one instead, but I feel pretty crap today.
This week will probably be a mish mash of shots, replying to all of you who reached out, some writing, some painting, & a smaller study.
Love you all. Stay safe darlings.
I'm scouring websites & social medias looking for artist styles that vibe w/ Veil Runners, pricing I can afford, & w/ openings for personal/eventual commercial work.
It's a tough intersection of those wants/needs. It'll work out, but it's def. challenging. Suggestions?

Oops. Turns out Persona, Discordβs age-verification service, was secretly screening selfies against government watchlists AND accessible by the feds. It's backed by Peter Thiel.

Tattoo got rescheduled, but the last few days have been a good exercise in stress management.
Now what to do with the day?
A trio of miniatures from Games Workshop's Underworlds: Deathgorge box. From left to right: Vashtiss, Alathir, & Cephanyr. Each is snap together plastic, well detailed, and primed in a dry brushed black AK primer. There are some spots missing but the primer is largely even and was quick to apply. Overall a huge jump forward in technique and time invested compared to 1 month ago. "Results 1 - A.R. Connolly"
A photo of a Tempestus Aquilon from Warhammer 40K Kill Team. The miniature is painted a flat grey all over. The paint is far too thick, leaving numerous details obscured. Also, uneven brushstrokes and too dry paint have left an excess build up of paint across the top half of the model, especially. "S.i.P. 4:Crash - A.R. Connolly"

I'm in love w/ this creative outlet, its challenges, & community. Still early in the journey, but more than excited to keep on.
Last night vs a month ago. More info in ALT.
New, non-mini study next week.

Can you imagine what would have happened to Monster Hunter, that tepidly-received PS2 non-hit, if it had debuted today? If FFXI, hugely popular and always profitable, had been killed for not being everyone's favourite MMO? If King's Field hadn't been given the time to grow into Souls? I despair D:
A photo of a paint stripped Tempestus Aquilon. Some bits of paint still cling to the miniature, but is largely back to "neutral." A container of alcohol sits next to the figure, darkened with stripped paint debris. "Experiments 5 - A.R. Connolly"
A photo of the previously paint stripped Aquilon now primed in black. The layer looks larger even though some spots have been missed. Next to the miniature are two partially built Aquiline also primed in black. They both look to have thinner coats that aren't as even. "Experiments 6 - A.R. Connolly"
"Experiments" 5 & 6
He survived & cleaned up well! Tossed a few others in the bath too.
Also did some priming w/ a dry makeup brush & couldn't be happier. Missed a few spots, but it seems even & was super quick.

Wowβ¦huh. Idk what to say. Kinda shocked but also this is the industryβ¦Regardless, hope folks find work and support they need.
More paint stripping and priming this evening. Three of the models are a different kind of plastic so Iβm curious how theyβll work out.
More experiments tomorrow
