Conversations here are shifting to reflect dual threats in the Arctic, from the U.S. and Russia; we are destroying the very relationships that have kept us safe. Please, contact your representatives and ask them to treat our friends as friends, not enemies.

We are quickly becoming less, not more, secure because we are treating our friends like enemies. Demanding to buy another country, insulting our longtime allies, and imposing tariffs is causing so much damage to the friendships and relationships that have provided security and peace.

These Norwegian colleagues have seen the U.S. as a friend and an ally, someone who shares their concerns in protecting peace through security in the Arctic. In short, while peace is always tenuous, working with our friends in the Arctic has kept us secure.

Many of my friends and colleagues I have made here have collaborated with the US and with other allies to protect the Arctic from threats, including working with the U.S. military to help them train for Arctic conditions and working to counter Russian propaganda.

As part of living in the Arctic this year, I have learned quite a bit about geopolitical and security concerns in the region. I have seen firsthand the strength of our relationship with NATO and the EU, as well as this relationship’s vital role in protecting the Arctic from hostile intervention.

On The β€˜Middle’ Coming: Advent Reflections With Romanos Time and space are peculiar during the Advent season. The emphasis on repeated family traditions resurrects memories of the past amidst present

Time and space get a bit weird in the liturgical poems of Romanos the Melodist. Learn from the sixth century hymnographer, as his Advent reflections transports us to Eden, Bethlehem, the River Jordan, and the baptismal font in our own church.

For @adamrenberg.bsky.social and me, some of the brightest witnesses to Christ have been believers from the global early and medieval church. We’re excited to be able to share some of their voices with you in β€œCandles in the Darkness,” coming this summer with @ivpacademic.bsky.social

In the darkness of the winter, as we look forward to the coming of Christ during this season of Advent, we look for lights to remind us of the hope we have in the Gospel.

Okay, why does this book matter? We held a conference in Melbourne in 2023, believing democratic-decay scholarship needs to pay attention to Rome, the only old democracy to fall from internal causes. I don’t need to say why that matters now. We want to bring #ancientbluesky and #polisci together. 🧡
