That’s kind, Mark - thank you! I hope all’s well with you
That’s kind, Mark - thank you! I hope all’s well with you
Thank you, that’s kind, MJ…I’m trying to view it as a good test of my resilience (and an opportunity to do lots of reading!)
I was really pleased to see the event and would have loved to go!
Hi MJ, thanks - I saw this! It looks fab. Sadly I’m thwarted with complications after surgery last September and can’t manage a jaunt up to London at the moment. Such a pain (in all senses!) Hope it goes well and fingers crossed you’ll do another event I can get to when things improve
I loved it! Thanks so much for the heads up; I’ve messaged other regular Helga and she’s looking forward to it later. I just wish it was a bit more prominent on the app - it deserves more visibility
Thank you so much, MJ!! Will enjoy this later…
Thank so much!

Have you seen in today’s paper? Lisdoonvarna!
I’ve popped a link to your recent piece in the comments today as it seems a shame not to link the two pieces
www.thetimes.com/article/8e66...
Florence Knapp’s The Names. The reference came out of the blue within the context of the book…without your piece in the paper this week I would have probably just skimmed by it
(I love little discoveries and connections like this!)
@mjjjennings.bsky.social Second Lisdoonvarna reference this week - randomly popping up in a novel I was reading this afternoon. There’s surely going to be a third one…

Have you seen this?

A common theme, I missed this piece in the NYT in August but helpfully they flagged it in their Morning newsletter today and I thought of you! One for you too @marcaspland.bsky.social
Missed this as we were heading home after our holiday (and then once back I failed to open Bluesky app for ages) but a quick first look suggests this is another cracker from @newsarchive.bsky.social
For fans of the Brutalist style it includes a great shot of Trellick Tower under construction
Just opened BlueSky for the first time in ages and found this! Thank you so much for the heads up and many apologies for only finding this now
We’ve not managed to get away yet but hopefully this month! Hope you manage a break from work
MJ! My apologies, I completely missed this (school holidays?). Thank you so much for thinking of me. Will take a look…
Morning all.

I’ve not come across this photograph of Norman Yardley and Hedley Verity before
Another great post by @picturesporting.bsky.social

Morning, Des! I hope today is good to you
A super choice from Des to start the day…
Everything Ed writes is a must-read and this piece is no exception. Thoughtful, evocative writing. The image at the end - no spoilers; read the piece! - will linger long in my memory

Think this is a piece you’d each enjoy
A superb photograph
With a bottle of ale close at hand clearly thirsty work for ‘Bosser’

Another terrific archive piece from @mjjjennings.bsky.social and the @newsukarchives.bsky.social team

Wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing - will enjoy having a peek later
I live there, would like to have seen this. Ladies cricket at Greenfield, Saddleworth, 1902.
This month’s brilliant archive piece by @mjjjennings.bsky.social and @newsukarchives.bsky.social team made me think of Tish Murtha’s wonderful photography
Behind a pay wall but if you have a subscription this is such an enjoyable distraction from the rest of the news

I ran out of steam looking at all the comments so didn’t see it but pleased I’m not the only one to spot the rhyme with Tish’s work

455 comments!! So pleased this month’s piece has received so much attention. My comment is pending approval (no idea why!) but I loved the selection
Thanks so much, MJ - will take a look!
When Rodeo came to London. It must have been such eye-opening, incredible experience to be in crowd
Another fascinating dip into the Times photographic archive…
Thank you so much for the heads up! I haven’t got to the paper (app) today but I’ll head over there now to take a peek. Hope all in the archive team have a good weekend
