Please share broadly if you find alternative ways to receive support. I also avoid Substack, but would love to contribute.
The past many years of elections have shown that Alexandrians want safe complete streets, and a built-out multimodal transportation networks. We continuously elect the candidates who run on supporting projects like this, including electing the most adamant safe streets advocate on council as Vice Mayor in 2024 and continuing that pattern this past Saturday. I admire those who will show up to speak in favor of safety tonight, but supporters shouldn't be expected to sit in a room for hours waiting to talk for 3 minutes. We showed our support repeatedly at the ballot box, and trust our representatives to vote for the safe streets they ran on.
Excerpt from my written comment to Traffic & Parking Board tonight:
Okay, this is quite outstanding from Bedford Council.
we need to talk about that Ring Super Bowl ad
this game isnβt boring, the nfl is simply appealing to a global audience by incorporating more kicking into football
Lucas single-handedly destroying Youngkinβs legacy projects (sports teams in NoVa, suburban GOP that can win) was remarkable to watch
Egg-cellent news! The first California condor eggs of the season have been laid at our wildlife conservation center, and more could be on the way.
Another thing about falcons you might already know: their nostrils have got little cones in them like some jet intakes, so that the high speed air flow doesn't wreck their lungs and they can still breathe. You can see them in your picture.

worth noting that the second rich people stopped being afraid of mobs tearing them limb from limb, they stopped building libraries and opera houses and stuff and started ripping the copper wiring out of the walls of society instead
Gonna beg media not to just repeat Trump's obviously bullshit framing in the headlines. Tell readers the truth in the headlines.

I'm used to having to convince coastal types that there are people out there who genuinely believe in libertarian and traditionalist principles (rather than as laundry for regular bigotry). rarely, however, do you see those types publicly confronted with how little company they actually have
Heβs just describing The American Dream but youβre supposed to hate it for some reason
This will be, or should be, featured in a million campaign ads
Elon Musk @elonmusk Hitler was a far left socialist. His party was called the national socialists. HotSotin @HotSotin North Korea is a democracy. Its name is Democratic People's Republic. B.Roll.Benny @brollbenny urinal cakes are for eating, it has cake in the name
You canβt tell me we have a functioning economic system when the richest man in human history is one of the most profoundly stupid people in human history
I voted against funding for DHS. Congress shouldn't pass funding for this lawless agency without major guardrails.
And the House should impeach Kristi Noem.

"The temperature in Minneapolis is dangerously high. There is an urgent need for the federal agents deployed to the city to step back and take a breath before more Americans are hurt or killed. [Highlighted]: Those protesting the Trump administration have an equal obligation to avoid violence.
This is from the NYT masthead editorial about the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. The highlighted line invalidates not just the editorial, but the very idea of newspaper editorials crafted by the consensus of a board. Better to publish nothing at all than to publish a line like this.
The Department of Homeland Security is murdering American citizens.
Congress cannot allow that to continue.
Getting these people out of Minnesota and cutting off funding should be a minimum response.
This is an outrage and an assault on our rights and freedom and it must stop.
Minnesotans are what Texans think they are.
Hey, does anyone know of a document that lays out what to do if a ruler quarters large bodies of armed troops among us, protects them for any murders which they should commit on us, abdicates government by declaring us out of his protection and waging war against us?
Lots of good signs here, but I have to confess my favorite is a rebel alliance where they replaced the red insignia with blue and the Minnesota loon.
I was told it was an outrage when prayer and worship is disrupted.
Republicans want us to vote to fund more of this.
Hell no.
Good. This is exactly what I want my congressman to say. Saves me a phone call.
*Hits head on desk*
PUTTING ALL PERSONAL OPINIONS ASIDE... it would be so, so easy for Dem leadership to say what's happening right now is making it harder for actual law enforcement to do their job.
It's removing trust and safety from the community! Etc!
They could spin this SO easily.
A dark blue mug with an American flag reads βAMERICA 1776 β 2026β
Fairly sure itβs unintentional, but the end date on this mug being sold by the Smithsonian does make it sound a little like theyβre saying America dies in 2026β¦
King about Albany: βThe mistake I made there was to protest against segregation generally rather than against a single and distinct facet of it. Our protest was so vague that we got nothing, and the people were left very depressed and in despair.β /10
Also, not a con law guy, but donβt think the idea is that the 4th Amendment aims to PROTECT arrest powers but to LIMIT them.
They are trying to invert a Constitutional that focused on negative liberties (βstate canβt do xβ) to constrain the state into one of positive liberties FOR the state.
If you are in Seattle, please go patronize this store because this is amazing content/promo π (laughing to keep from crying, and I do kind of low-key want that orange spider plant I have never seen that before)
