We are honored to be joined tonight by a woman whoβs been through hell, Anya Zarutska. In 2022, she and her beautiful daughter. So beautiful. What a beautiful young woman Iryna fled war-torn, war-torn Ukraine to live with relatives near Charlotte, North Carolina. And by the way, whatβs going on with Charlotte? Last summer, 23-year-old Irina was riding home on the train when a deranged monster who had been arrested over a dozen times and was released through no cash bail, stood up and viciously slashed a knife through her neck and body. No one will ever forget. There were people on that train. No one will ever forget the expression of terror on Irene, his face as she looked up at her attacker in the last seconds of her life. She died instantly. She had escaped a brutal war, only to be slain by a hardened criminal set free to kill in America came in through open borders. Mrs. Zarutska, tonight, I promise you, we will ensure justice for your magnificent daughter, Iryna.
Trump said in last night's SOTU/rally that the man who killed Ukrainian immigrant Irina Zarutska on a train in NC during what appears to have been a psychotic break was here because of "open borders."
He was born in Charlotte but his name was DeCarlos DeJuan Brown so I guess that's all it takes now

President Donald Trump used his State of the Union speech to highlight economic achievements and advocate for more tariffs and immigration restrictions.
The failure of local news outlets, even in blue markets, to accurately cover this President is a huge issue. This isn't some Sinclair or Nexstar station. Local news matters because people still trust it, and we've got TV stations doing Trump's job for him.

Day Sq intersections
This situation in Day Sq in Eastie is awful for pedestrians. It isn't clear which cars have the right of the way and there are no traffic signals. It doesn't look that bad from above but when you're navigating it, you really have to have your wits about you

So, the US govt approach is:
*We are going to scan tourists social media accounts and deny visas because of content we dislike, like mocking Trump
and
*We are going to allow foreigners a work-around to consume social media content their governments have banned, including hate speech
