Just looking back at the files in my Drive, I first tried to put a shape on this book in 2023.

It feels remarkable that I haven't put out a book of poems since 2019, since before the pandemic completely altered our lives (it did). It feels like I've been writing poems nonstop since Northly came out. Pacemaker was such a big part of my life from 2020-2023.

Very weird watching The Pitt and the reboot of Scrubs simultaneously. It says a lot about the state of American health insurance that they have Dr Robby and JD & their student doctors acting the same roles in terms of workarounds, despite one being a drama & the other a comedy. In this essay I will

Fierce excited to bring this book to the world as it is. It's been through a lot of changes, and represents a huge amount of work over the past five years especially. I've so much to say about it, and will as I go along

38 started with me learning that I can't fall with the same grace I once did on skis. My whole body hurts.

Tenet, easily. One of the most garbled, nonsensical things I've ever seen. It was annoying cos the sound was awful and because it thought it was so so clever. Go'way from me.

Absolutely devouring this. Exactly the kind of novel I love. The big stories of an absolute chancer that remind me of the tall tale telling of men in pubs I remember as a child.

Turning 38 on Thursday. What a weird kind of non-age that is!

I have been banging this drum for a good year now. Why is it always salted caramel now and not just caramel. Is there an abundance of salt that major food producers need to use up?!

I often feel I am the last person who listens to only radio shows in podcast format (i.e. asynchronously). I hardly listen to any pure podcasts at all. There's such a big difference between what a radio show can do and a podcast still.

Nrk commentators saying that was unsportsmanlike of the Swiss coach but there's no way anyone wouldn't celebrate in that situation. It was pure instinct. Just like Lie McGrath fucking his poles over the fence and wandering off to the woods for a lie down.

Atle Lie McGrath providing one of the most compelling moments of the #winterolympics there. Bombed completely, and furious with himself, storms off for a lie down in the snow. The whole scene made more perfect by the unrestrained joy of the Swiss coach standing nearby who celebrates.

Kind of the perfect distillation of what makes the Olympics great really.

Been watching the figure skating all week and what an upset that was for the men's finale. Incredible. Kazakhstan gold!
