Well, I botched a descriptor. I meant acetic, not acetone.

The Duchesse!
I get funky, stone fruit aroma. Acetone/balsamic vinegar and muddled tart cherry flavor notes with an effervescent body and a subtle lingering sweetness. Not sure why Iβm describing, yβall have had this gem before. Proost!

The Lost Abbey Brewing Company. Noble Tendencies 5.0% Czech Pilsner
Hay on the nose. Cracker and straw with some spicy hops in there. Crisp, lightly bitter, and totally delicious. Cheers to making it through another week!

Jealous!
It pours deep brown with ruby highlights. Beautiful cocoa aroma. Tastes like chocolate covered coffee beans with a spritz of vanilla syrup. If not for the roast and hop bitterness, it might come off a little too sweet. I really like this well brewed 8.2% Baltic Porter.
Cheers!

Homebrew version of a 6.7% Wee Heavy called Fat Bastard (Austin Powers reference)
Just look at that #homebrew clarity! π *sigh*
Earthy hops and cherry esters in the aroma. Toffee, caramel, sweet bready flavors. Mouthfeel is creamy with moderately low carbonation and a better than medium body. Bitterness is restrained. A pretty enjoyable 6.7% ABV Wee Heavy. Cheers!

Let it restβ¦a while. Had 2022 the other night and was still popping!
Daily Affirmation Bohemian Pilsner by Arts District Brewing Co.
All the Party Animals cans gushed. This did not. Floral hops leads to bready/crackery malt with some hay and low bitterness. 5.1% ABV. Cheers!

Not sure if Iβve shared this one before. Brown sugar, sweet malt, raisins & prunes, oh my! Could use a touch more carbonation but still highly enjoyable. 8% ABV. Cheers!

Arts District Brewing Company Dry-Hopped Pils
Was a hot one π₯΅ in SD today. Perfect for a crisp Pilsner! After gushing and losing 1/4 of the can, I got dank, citrus/melon hop aromas. Grassy malt with reasonable bitterness. Crisp and tasty. No evidence of infection so not sure why it gushed. Will be more careful with other 3 cans. #bskybeer
Last from Richmond. Caramel and bourbon aromas. Barrel aged malty sweetness with a definitive bourbon assertiveness. 12% ABV Cheers!

Triple Crossing Beer, Richmond VA. Really nice new tap room with a good selection of lagers (they proudly display their horizontal lagering tanks). This is Cinder, a 5% ABV rauchbier. Beautifully done. Creamy head with ever present smoke but definitely not hammy. Cheers! #bskybeer
Caramel on the nose, toffee on the palate. Medium bodied, low bitterness. A flavorful brew.
Cheers!

On the other coast. This was a favorite during grad school years. For as sweet as the darker (brown?) malt comes off, itβs only medium bodied. Very little bitterness. The roast thatβs present helps balance the sweetness so itβs not cloying. 5.8% ABV.
Cheers!

Last of this BOTM shipment, 2nd from Sawtooth. A 7% Baltic Porter. This one leans closer to stout with all the roast. Roast aroma, flavor and lingering aftertaste. Thereβs dark chocolate in there too. Itβs medium bodied and that roast dries it out. Super enjoyable.
Cheers! #bskybeer
Having more of this tonight. My favorite local brewery. #bskybeer
Love me some curling. Itβs billiards on ice.
BOTM from Sawtooth in ID. Sweet honey aroma, honey malt and floral hop flavors. Mild bitterness. Itβs not as crisp as Iβd prefer but not flabby. Salute! #bskybeer
BOTM 2 from Melvin. Honey aroma and flavors are present but subtle as is everything else. Just a hint of residual sweetness and no bitterness. Pretty tasty. Cheers! #bskybeer
Mom and pops got me a beer of the month club gift for Xmas. First shipment just arrived. Not exactly an ideal winter brew but, hey, itβs always sunny in SoCal.
Slight sulfury aroma. Flavors of hay, honey malt and citrus pith. 5%. Really enjoyable even though Iβm not currently en la playa. #bskybeer
Good luck!
Jealous. Enjoy!
Happy Friday! Recently tapped my Baltic Porter #homebrew. This is my unicorn brew; I can never get it quite right. This is the closest yet with a creamy tan head, caramel/nutty aroma. Vanilla, chocolate, and light roast flavors. Medium body, with some residual sweetness. 6.8%ABV. Cheers!

Good memories from these guys. Used to hit up the original taproom and do flights of their milk stouts. Havenβt been to the vista location since pre COVID. Great brewers.
Cheers!
Which location?
This got me through grad school in Philly. Pitchers on draftβ¦memories!
Beautiful day today in San Diego. Early yard work, now playoff football with this beauty. Creamy persistent head leads to mainly hay aroma. Flavors of straw, lemon, and phenols with a touch of astringency. Itβs nicely bitter and dries out as youβd expect. A pleasant warm day brew. Cheers! #bskybeer
Had one myself tonight
Losing? LOST
Keepsake Vienna style lager by Wayfinder
Playoff football! These guys know how to make lagers and this is one of my favorite lager styles. The aroma is lightly bready. Flavor is also lightly bready with some cracker and toast. Itβs not as toasty as I like for the style but itβs still immensely enjoyable. 5.4% ABV.
Cheers!
