In practice, I think you could easily argue it is less sovereign. It would have more self-determination if it was part of shaping EU policy instead of being forced to follow it.
But we need Europe to concern itself with these important issues. And the answer cannot be found in 27 member unanimity. We need to un-Brexit Europe and give all of us a real voice by uniting. Federally. Now. #eupol #treatychange
My goverment’s current obsession is property taxes. Not the impending advent of AGI, not the threat of AMOC collapse, population decline, or anything else of such importance. And probably rightfully so. They are concerned, as governors, of local affairs within their ability to affect.
But just like Brexit gave the appearance of increased sovereignty while in practice reducing it, so too it is with keeping decisions in the individual 27 member states. And honestly, many of those 27 have no role to play in the foreign policy of todays world.
