The #tiktokban was lifted within 14 hours, but not all services are back. Hard to tell what is due to the outage and what may be intentional suppression. I'm going to cautiously assume the former for now, but we'll have more evidence in the coming days.
On TikTok:
1) People can't see what you like
2) Vids get more views in the initial exploration phase before the algorithm sorts it into a bucket
3) Vids are seen faster after posting, so trends and discourse feel more current

Social Media is moving to a more decentralized model one way or another. The Tech giants will try to fight it because they have a lot to lose
