I use this (overly simplified) schematic to explain to folks why maintaining high measles immunity is so hard. Even with 100% coverage, you get different outcomes depending on who and when you vaccinate.
Consider a population with more kids than adults -- start with them all being susceptible.

The challenge to those of us in public health is not just to speak out but to be active proponents of nonviolence and peacemaking. This means taking an abolitionist view of sorts, in which we work toward a world in which violence is a thing of the past. A recombinant strain of mpox virus has been isolated from a patient in the UK containing fragments of clade I and clade II virus. Recombination occurs when two strains of virus infect a cell. These events tend to be rare but are well described in poxviruses.
