Those were the same odds you could get 6 months ago for him being out by December 2025 ๐
Actually National Grid owns and manages England and Wales. In Scotland it's split into two:
Only if you ignore some key elements of the poll ๐ค
It forgets to mention - only if the UK can have exactly the same deal as when we were Members, discounted payments, keep the ยฃ - not adopt the โฌ, etc ๐
But really not surprising. UK Membership of the EU might be interesting to you (and me in a technical sense). But to a large segment of the population they 'don't care'. They didn't see a benefit of being in it, and don't miss it now we are out. Are they going to swing to vote to Rejoin ? ๐ค
Of course such a 'Single EU-UK Customs Territory' is possible, just like an EU/UK Customs Union is possible. But it was offered under very different circumstances to today (below). NI is essentially solved and we have the TCA that the EU are happy with. The benefits to the EU of a CU are marginal ๐ค

Oh picky. Ok try this one. MoreinCommon ๐ค
It's not a vote. It's a petition debate. Doesn't take place in the Chamber but Westminster Hall. A few people will turn up and talk at each other. Then they all go for a beer. Pretty pointless ๐ค
BYD have a 27% import tariff in the EU ๐ค
Well as you say if you wish to believe stuff ๐. YouGov polling tends only to indicate a majority for returning on the basis we could keep the previous conditions, ie the Rebate and to stay out of the Euro. Somewhat unlikely ๐ค
Just a pity Labour have been so appaling since coming into power ๐
Bit of a fantasy. The UK can't go back into the EU Custom's Union without becoming a full Member of the EU again.
It is technically possible, if the EU were interested which they aren't, to form a new EU/UK Customs Union similar to the one the EU has with Turkey. But that would be very restrictive ๐ค
As if that's going to happen. Although there is general regret about Brexit there is really little interest in changing the status quo now. Both the UK Government and the EU seem fairly happy with the current TCA and then closer alignment in some areas. But any more than that is a pipe dream so ๐ค
If you want EU Roaming you either use a network that has built it into their billing, eg O2, or pay for a top-up when you need it which is offered by most ๐ค
International Roaming despite being an 'EU thing' is paid for by UK Operators paying to use networks in other EU countries for their subscribers to get service. You can argue why should everybody in the UK have slightly higher bills just so some people who travel to the EU can use their phones ?
Strange but despite videos like this ๐, according to the YouGov issues survey the 'UK Relationship with Europe' (in Green) is 13th out of 15 issues that UK voters are concerned with. So I would guess a very long time ๐ค
The US is the UK's biggest export market. Also Trump won't be around for ever (much longer) ๐ค
Agree that as the EU is a large market it makes sense for the UK outside the EU to adopt EU food standards. Hence the SPS deal being negotiated. And yes UK food exports to the EU are down (23.4% in the last 5 years according to the F&D Federation). Worth noting though below ๐ค
Actually it is. Slowly ๐ค
You can see the percentages for 2025 here ๐ค
A short history ๐
Yes you just get yourself an Epson printer and starting printing your own money ๐
meeting certain food standards in the UK, that is a given. It isn't going to change whatever the US requests. The main reason is UK consumers wouldn't accept it. Just like the EU which is a large importer of US beef for example as long as it meets the appropriate standards ๐ค
Based on a number of false assumptions. The UK does not have to choose between the EU and the US. It has trade deals with many Countries, like the EU, all of which have conditions. The UK also democratically decided to be outside the EU. That isn't going to change. So on the subject of importers
