This could explain why so many of my depth-explicit Eh measurements in upland soils tend to increase with depth between 5 and 25 cm…
I initially expected pore connectivity to cause Eh to decrease with depth, but it seems if substrate availability ↑, then O2 demand ↑ which causes Eh ↓!
I recently made a new rule for my email inbox to divert updates from Google Scholar into a side folder and, I’m not exaggerating, it’s changed my life!
