This will make the 4th color pass on these lips. I had trimmed the worst bumps off beforehand and used a thicker smoother paint to go on cleaner and fill gaps. Sort of wanting to call this done and move on. Will try out the mask and full costume tonight for full body pics and maybe some video.

Third color pass on the lips, which are admittedly starting to look a little rough in texture. I see a fleshtone pass happening to try and normalize them, but mostly this has served as an experiment in layering color washes with lessons to learn from it.

Second phase on the repaint. Used a thinner yellow wash to go over the lips and fill in spots on the mask where the paint had rubbed off. Much more subtle effects going this way! The lips will ultimately be more realistic in tonality, just having fun with new process! Last pic for previous look.

Last night I filled in some teeth gaps on Nesbit’s lips and inside the mask on a few thin areas. Today I added a rather pronounced blue paint to the lips as a base layer before doing secondary layers to make it less lipsticky. Going for a deoxygenated look. Will see how this goes!

Right now he is looking like he had some work done on his face. He needs to file a claim against that surgeon! With this particular version he will get hair again, will figure how much soon.

Trying on some Zeus Blue contacts last night, they realy pop! Not remotely realistic but that’s no problem for Sy Smoothie, he revels in fakeness! I had a strong urge to glue him on, and this will undoubtedly occur later this year. That’s a threat, I mean promise!

Exactly! It needs to stand out and get in other people’s faces.

I suspect it will stay big through the final sculpt. Perhaps refined in shape but not in intention!

There will be other jewels to snatch out of the air!

I used to agonize over lost snippets of inspiration when I was actively writing things down on paper and didn’t have any around. Nowadays I geab my phone and tap it out in Notes or similar blank digital paper. It helps a bit!

Last night I spent several hours expanding upon this once abandoned mask sculpt. Still very rough but headed in the right direction. Yes, Big Boy Caprice from the Dick Tracy film is a massive influence, but he will be one of several inspirations driving the final look.

Can’t believe that’s the only creature on my phone! Had to soft through all the clowns and toys…

I know what I like!

I dug this long dormant sculpt project out of storage while doing some organizing. I started it well over 5 years ago and stalled out, naturally! I do see things I want to add and refine, and could very well see this brought to fruition as a mask by summer, assuming it doesn’t vanish once more!
