Trump has been having the same fight about sanctuary cities for 10 years. Winning it may not be the point. - The Boston Globe
President Trump has been largely rebuffed by the courts each time heβs attempted to punish Democratic cities and states.
βHe keeps coming back and doing the same thing over and over again and the same lawsuit or policy thatβs been blocked a million timesβ¦.He doesnβt care if itβs as effective at changing their policy, he just wants to make the point politically.β www.bostonglobe.com/2026/02/07/n...

Two lobbyists made more than $1 million lobbying the Kentucky General Assembly last year β’ Kentucky Lantern
Two lobbyists made more than $1 million lobbying the Kentucky General Assembly last year
Louisvilleβs first lobbying ordinance was enacted in November 2022. It called for online access to reports - as is common in cities our size - but Metro has never followed through and access to reports is difficult. Lobbying is ongoing but transparency is lacking. kentuckylantern.com/2026/01/23/t...

Governor Andy Beshear:
To preserve the American Dream of owning a home, Kentucky needs a big, bold investment now. I'm proposing a game-changing $150 million investment in Kentucky's Affordable Housing Trust Fund.
Combined with private funding, it will create $1 billion in new housing.

Metro Council advances $1.2B incentive for Churchill Downs renovations
If passed, a Metro Council resolution would approve up to $1.2B in industrial revenue bonds to help Churchill Downs finance racetrack renovations.
Under the proposal, Churchill Downs would pay no Louisville Metro or Urban Services District property taxes for an expanded list of properties for decades to come, continuing a program started in 2002 when the track and the company were much different. www.courier-journal.com/story/news/p...

Many Kentuckians at risk of returning to homelessness because of federal funding switch β’ Kentucky Lantern
Abrupt shift in federal funds to help the homeless could put many disabled Kentuckians back on the streets, say advocates.
In Louisville, the changes could cause more than half the 1,900 people in whatβs called permanent supportive housing to lose housing and services, including counseling, mental health and addiction treatment, financial education and other help. kentuckylantern.com/2025/11/24/m...
