Title: “ADHD conversations” Subtitle 1: Hyperactive Speech bubble to left looks frantic and says “rapid speech.” Bullets to the right read: excessive talking, speaks very quickly, gets off topic often, unintentionally loud, rambling, tangents, fidgets while being spoken to. Subtitle 2: Impulsive Speech bubble to left is cutting off someone else and reads “interrupting.” Bullets to the right read: Blurts out answers, impatient waiting for turn, lack of filter, quick emotional responses, inappropriate over-sharing, may unintentionally dominate conversations. Subtitle 3: Inattentive Speech bubble to left looks dreamy and says “zoning out.” Bullets to the right read: struggles to pay attention, becomes bored easily, forgets details, appears to ignore others, needs things to be repeated, distracted by background noise or external stimuli.

Walking through a second hand book store should feel like you’re flying through the trench run on the Death Star.
Seeing my TikToks / The Anti-Planner featured as a means of dismantling internalized ableism means so much.
Thanks so much for the shoutout, @howtoadhd.bsky.social! 😭💖

"It was real, wrenching, unacceptably painful, so painful that it should quite literally be impossible. Death could happen to anyone at any time, even people like Ed’s dad, big people, solid people, people with the weather-beaten resilience of a surviving Stone Age monument. Even those people die."
"The hours of each day are rationed between unbearable heat and biblical rain, and even though it has only been this way for three weeks, it is impossible to imagine that things have ever been any other way."

"I read voraciously. I look around my library some nights and I do these terrible things to myself--I count up the books and think, how long I might have to live and think, 'F@$k, I can't read two-thirds of these books.' It overwhelms me with sadness."

What’s a technology that you think is overhyped? I’m going to give a sideways answer to this, which is that the venture capital business model needs to be understood as requiring hype. You can go back to the Netscape IPO, and that was the proof point that made venture capital the financial lifeblood of the tech industry. Venture capital looks at valuations and growth, not necessarily at profit or revenue. So you don’t actually have to invest in technology that works, or that even makes a profit, you simply have to have a narrative that is compelling enough to float those valuations. So you see this repetitive and exhausting hype cycle as a feature in this industry. A couple of years ago, you would have been asking me about the metaverse, then last year, you would have asked me about Web3 and crypto, and for each of these inflection points there’s an Andreessen Horowitz manifesto. It’s not simply that one piece of technology is overhyped, it’s that hype is a necessary ingredient of the current business ecosystem of the tech industry. We should examine how often the financial incentive for hype is rewarded without any real social returns, without any meaningful progress in technology, without these tools and services and worlds ever actually manifesting. That’s key to understanding the growing chasm between the narrative of techno-optimists and the reality of our tech-encumbered world.

even at the time, Mark Twain was roasting this kind of airless romanticization of aristocracy in the South as "the sillinesses and emptinesses, sham grandeurs, sham gauds, and sham chivalries of a brainless and worthless long-vanished society"

CBS canceled Colbert’s show just THREE DAYS after Colbert called out CBS parent company Paramount for its $16M settlement with Trump – a deal that looks like bribery.
America deserves to know if his show was canceled for political reasons.
Watch and share his message.
I've spent a lot of time thinking about this fascinating exchange Colbert had with Dua Lipa, when she asked him about the role his faith plays in his comedy.
The planet does not need more successful people. The planet desperately needs more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers, and lovers of all kinds.

the big questions for american democracy going forward seem to be (1) can the GOP actually build the federal police state they just funded, (2) in time to finish before democratic checks can be established, and (3) whether dems gaining power would actually try to stop/dismantle it
