Doctors, patients, families, community members, newborn babiesβ€”everyone crowded into St. Boniface Hospital's waiting room last night to watch Haiti's historic, World Cup-qualifying win. Our hearts are overflowing with pride for our team and our country. Alaso!!! πŸ‡πŸ‡Ήβ€οΈβš½οΈ

A large white vehicle drives out of a river and onto rough, rocky terrain.

Our drivers are some of the most unsung heroes at the hospital. They must constantly navigate jagged roads to deliver patients and supplies safely to our doors. They also keep our fleet in good running order, ensuring we can always be on the move at a moment's notice. It's a tough but essential job!

This unassuming building was the start of St. Boniface Hospital.

Formerly a one-room clinic, we worked with the people of Fond des Blancs to grow the services it could provide. While the current hospital was built nearby, this building will always hold a special place in our hearts.

This sachet is a powerhouse when it comes to treating malnutrition. Called Plumpy'Nut, this unique blend of peanut butter, vitamins, minerals, and other ingredients helps children safely gain weight. We use it with routine checkups and other programs to keep the children we serve nourished.

Jameson's favorite thing about his new wheelchair? "I can get around and go where I want by myself!"

Thanks to our friends at Hope Health Action and our SCI rehabilitation team, we're helping more patients like Jameson have the properly fitting assistive devices they need to be independent.

St. Boniface Hospital is continuing to care for patients despite the impacts of #HurricaneMelissa.

We have weathered the storm well so far, but remain on guard for stronger winds and rain tonight. We are also prepping for a possible increase in cholera, which can occur after intense rainfall.

Our team at St. Boniface Hospital has spent all week preparing for Hurricane Melissa. We are continuing to care for patients despite the pounding rains.

Please keep Haiti and the Caribbean in your thoughts this weekend as all of us brace for potentially catastrophic flooding and landslides. β€οΈπŸ‡πŸ‡Ή

A lab technician wearing blue gloves and a blue isolation gown holds tubes of blood samples. Only their hands and part of their torso is shown, above a table with papers and styrofoam trays holding additional blood sample tubes.

Our lab technicians perform hundreds of tests daily for dozens of medical conditions. Because many patients come from far away, we work hard to deliver same-day results so they don't have to make additional trips for care.

Our surgeons are cross-trained to perform both general and advanced specialty procedures.

This approach means that there's never a delay in performing even complex interventions, and patients never have to wait for a specialist.

So far this year our satellite clinic in Villa, Haiti, has seen over 8,000 patient visits. Here, people living in some of southern Haiti's most remote communities can recieve provide primary care, laboratory services, pre- and postnatal care, non-Cesarean deliveries, emergency care, and more.

Did you know that the people of Fond des Blancs hand-crafted every brick used to make the first St. Boniface Hospital building? From the very start, this special place has been built byβ€”and forβ€”the community it serves.

So far this year we've administered 4,000+ doses of childhood vaccinations through our community health program. Protecting children from dangerous illnesses such as measles, tetanus, and polio is one of our most important responsibilities.
