Despite their “benefits all of humanity” mission statement, OpenAI has picked sides and is following Leopold Aschenbrenner’s US security state aligned playbook. And, on this first point re fair use, they’re at least transparent.
If, hypothetically, DeepSeek could demonstrate the same privacy and security protections as their own would OpenAI welcome the competition — and possible billions in revenue and investment flowing into further R&D?
