Advancing our understanding of these hidden processes is essential for improving seismic and tsunami hazard assessment—especially in regions that are otherwise difficult to study directly.
Understanding these systems is critical. For such reason I’m working on a project aiming to monitor subduction slip behavior using remote seismological techniques. By analyzing teleseismic signals, we investigate subtle precursory phases and slow slip phenomena.
A strong #earthquake struck the #Kamchatka Peninsula the night of July 29–30, triggering a #tsunami warning in Pacific.
Events like this highlight the seismic threat posed by offshore #subductionzones and their potential for global-scale impact (in terms of human lives and economic consequences)

It provides high-resolution 3D images of both isotropic and anisotropic seismic structures beneath the #volcano.
