Photo from the early 1970s of a man on horseback negotiating the Birmingham inner ring road at Holloway Head
I’m searching for the original and/or rights owner of this fabulous picture of Birmingham in the early 1970s. It popped up on my Instagram feed, but I’ve been unable to track it down.
Any leads? I’m really hoping to use it in a book.
(And would much appreciate a RT please)

I've signed this and sent it on.

Found a relevant set of 19th century notes on open shelves, related to what I was looking for in the earlier vestry minutes but not in the catalogue.
This is why we repeat, "most history is not digitised: we still need historians; we still needs local studies libraries run by local councils."
Well, this is bleak.
Absolutely agree- the text is definitely of a different age, but the art is fantastic.
Also I think that this is the last of the pressing, so something like this may not come around again in one publication.
I, on the other hand, almost pulled a hamstring getting up from my chair without due care and attention.
In case anyone wants to feel old, my researcher flew in on a transatlantic flight arriving on Wednesday, got to the archives all day Thursday, returned to the archives today, is due to fly out (with a stopover in another Euro capital) on Monday, back to lectures next Wednesday. No problems.
I got a replacement battery and hard drive a couple of years ago, and mine is still trucking. Worth doing imo.

In fairness though, Roberts got into Transformers because of Furman too (and yes, Furman is much older). And he took the property somewhere infinitely richer.
I got into Transformers because of Furman (8 year old me loved the nihilism of the British comic strips), but Roberts made rounded characters with actual emotional hinterland. I wept at his comics, which is genuinely something I never thought would happen with chuffing Transformers.
(weirdly I don't think they feature the moment above, but collectively they represent the moment the IDW 'formers start discussing emotions, sex and gender like adults. They also got a terrific Amazon review- '11/10, would get heart broken by giant gay robots again')
If you're interested, More than Meets the Eye by James Roberts is where to start. It's a little rocky at the beginning, but he spoke to trans women to get the representation right by the follow up series, Lost Light, and the two series can stand alone.
(I love them both, excellent books)
The Brighton eye at night in the drizzle with lights creating a double halo effect.
Brighton.
My wife found out via an AI search that Orbital are playing in a couple of Saturdays time at Brixton.
She was outraged! As a long term fan she's on every mailing list going to get to the front of any queue.
A bit of research later, turns out Google AI confused Orbital with...
Sleaford Mods.

Bethlem Museum of the Mind stopped in early 2025, but we ground to a halt before then in terms of posting. Our social media person had found the interactions on there had become increasingly vexing, unproductive and unsafe some time before.
I think we locked the account, but not sure.
Christ. Watched this on my own in a totally dark room and it scarred me. It's like a pressure cooker.
This is the Gov looking for your input on the BBC. It takes a while to complete (15/20 mins) but it’s pretty comprehensive and covers most aspects.
Please share. I’m surprised many people haven’t seen it yet.

Sorry to hear it, but hope the walk and the sun are good. If it is any consolation, you are considerably more public spirited than the man who spent the whole of our train journey coughing and sneezing into his jacket while sat opposite.
(Jackets being famously virus resistant or course)
🚨 We have heard that the County Archaeologist for Hampshire is being made redundant, with no plans to replace him. 🚨
If you live in Hampshire please write to your MP and Councillors.
If you live elsewhere treasure and support your County Archaeologists, and stand by to protect them. 🏺
Oh man, sorry to hear that. Thought we were out of that shite, but it still lingers on in football.
Sigh. Of course he is.
As a long suffering Palace fan, nothing that man does will ever surprise me.
It was a point of faith for me that all bomber crews had someone on board who looked like Rebecca de Mornay.
