The butter shreds will melt, leaving air pockets and making the scone super moist. Guaranteed way to make a fantastic scone. They're really easy, honestly. The more tools you use, the higher the chances of a dry scone.

Added more lemon zest than what was written, left out vanilla extract, shredded frozen butter, changed it from 400Β° to 375Β°, and I only used two forks to fold in the cream and butter. It should BARELY be a formed dough. Crumbles galore that you have to press into shape. -
Made the best scones (american) that I have ever made, yall. I barely followed the recipe and I think that was my saving grace. Pro-tip, only follow recipes that tell you to fold in frozen shredd butter. Overmixing your scone dough is what leads to a dry scone, which is unappealing.

Gotta work on my cardiovascular health so I can outlive them all
The best thing about being 26 is that I have a lifetime of obituaries coming from the trump administration. Every time one of them dies, I'm throwing a party with an obituary reading.
This stitch is called the Holbein stitch, which is supposed to be reversible for things like cuffs & collars. If you aren't doing something that's viewed from both sides, there's no need to focus on it being reversible. It's just a good skill to have in your back pocket for blackwork /gen
I fixed my tension and I swear, it's like night and day.

Oh, this is 36ct. Lugana, with single-ply Needlepoint Inc. silk floss πΊπ»
Learned a new way to start my thread with no knots, which is is going to make it SO much easier to make this fully reversible. Those tiny boxes are kicking my ass, though. I'm not sure there's a way to make it reversible, tbh π

I agree! To have such a detailed account of Tudor blackwork is a serious blessing.
Isn't the detail amazing???
Still not fully reversible, but practice will only make that better!

Finally giving Jane Seymours cuff a try! I miscounted on my first go at it, but it doesn't look too bad at all! The next attempt will be better, I'm sure πββοΈ

My first attempt at this pattern vs my current attempt, plus the backs so you can see how I've gotten more consistent. I gave up on my first one bc I prefer to work variegated threads diagonally. I got tired of trying to figure out the motifs, so I scrapped it π

Sometimes I wish I didn't pick projects with five digits in the stitch count, because finishing things regularly seems so nice :'-)
Tad not tab but whateva
On to the fourth tree!!! Folded up my project a tab bit too tight last night, but the lines will go away as the fabric relaxes a bit πββοΈ

I'll never forget trying to learn Mandarin on an app and it asked me to pick the character for "ni hao". Playing in my fuckin face, let me tell you that. You think I'd be using an app from square one if I knew any of the characters??? I had to ask the universe if it was a joke or something, bc wtf
The first one with Soie d'Alger is on 34 ct. Lugana. The second one with Gloriana Tudor Silk is, from what I'm counting, 40 or 42 ct. Lugana. /g
Finished this motif up in 2.5 days πββοΈ The whole thing is looking so full, I love it.
βPattern is Forests of Sumatra from Ink Circles

Single-ply Soie d'Alger vs. single-ply Gloriana Tudor Silk, plus some up-close pictures of each in a project.
I love both of them, but tudor silk makes such a clean look. It quickly became my favorite for both cross-stitch and blackwork. It's just hard to get sometimes.

Finished up the first section of this motif. It's really starting to feel close to being done, which is sooo exciting! I want to finish this one and then start back up on The Big Red Ship of Life (picture three, also designed by Ink Circles). I'm itching to finish it.

I can, yeah! I honestly had never considered any alternative π And don't worry, I love clarifying questions. Misunderstandings are so avoidable if people just let themselves ask more questions. /gen
I find physical copies easier to work with and more reliable than digital copies.
I do recommend that people print out two copies of their pattern, though. One copy is single-sided so markers don't bleed through, and another copy is taped together to make the full pattern. The Big Copy is one of my necessities, because it helps me keep track of what exactly I want to work on. /g
I don't sketch anything prior to stitching, I work on blank fabric and copy it from the printed pattern. In the beginning, I mark the center of my fabric with a ballpoint pen, and then I start working center-out. Is that what you mean in your question? /gen
Always gotta give the back of my work some love. She deserves it, I think.
