Just finished re-reading Ann Althouse’s classic “Standing, in Fluffy Slippers” for my Con Law class on Monday. Chills every time. More relevant today than ever.

From naming the department “DOGE” to the proposed pardon of George Floyd’s murderer, we are experiencing government-by-troll.

Ohio Senate overrides DeWine vetoes on trans youth gender-affirming care and local tobacco bans - Oh... The Ohio Senate voted to override two of Gov. Mike DeWine’s vetoes Wednesday — one blocking gender-affirming care for trans youth and the other lets the state have the final say on tobacco laws.

I am extremely disappointed and angered by Ohio Republicans' anti-trans veto override. The anti-trans hate that they have both fallen in with and, now, encouraged is created out of nothing to give them an "other" to attack and to continue their efforts to control others.

TL;DR: Wasting resources on transphobic crusades hurts all of us.

Also—more to @lawdorknews.bsky.social’s point—Indiana ranks 44th in the US for teacher salaries. The district could have paid three full-time teachers for what it paid one of its lawyers in this case.

This likely indicates that Gorsuch is sticking to at least the most obvious implications of Bostock. It *should* signal to certain circuits to stop chipping away at Title VII/IX for trans folks.
