So true.
Nurse/care assistant speaking here.
Tinkering around the edges won't cut it, we need systemic change & a culture shift. Our whole valuesystem needs an overhaul.
Care(for others & our planet)is constantly undervalued whilst social & economic vandalism are consistently rewarded.

Americans can tolerate a genocide in Gaza, ICE killing and kidnapping people, Trump's racism and cruelty, but I do think high gas prices - in addition to all the other chaos - might be a bridge too far.

Cor, sure would feel great right now if we were self-sufficient in renewable energy, and laughing at all the rubes reliant on global oil supplies. We'd have a bit of a swagger in our step today.

Our country has been reduced to being the bully's bitch.
But when water, gas & electricity distribution, nuclear power and the overwhelming majority of our ports are controlled by foreign players- it was only a matter of time.
Great Britain has sold off a lot of its greatness to the highest bidder.

I would like to vote for a party that said: "we keep being buffeted by forces outside our control. This is because we've allowed our capabilities to degrade. We're going to build them up again so some moron can't just bankrupt us with a stupid idea. It will take a while but here's the plan".

New Human Rights Watch report finds that the US Israel massacre of an elementary school in southern Iran has to be investigated as a war crime. The US and Israel had sufficient information and intel to know whether it was a school or not.

Trump's decision to bomb Iran is now the greatest windfall to the Russian war effort on record. If it continues, it might save the Russian war economy.

In honour of Women's day, we should hold a social experiment to have women run the entire show for a decade or 2.
You'll always have the odd imbecilic deviant (Noem, Truss,...) but I can't imagine it would lead to the complete shit show currently foisted upon us by the alpha males.
Worth a try!

"the sanctity of life comes before the commitment to return the remains of a fighter for burial."
WHOSE life, only the life of IDF soldiers is mentioned. Never mind the children and other civilians killed in the indiscriminate debauched violence perpetrated by Israel.
These people are sick.

The time for this country to figure out what it stands for-if anything-is long overdue.
Will we grow a spine & stand up to the bully or become its lackey.
Diplomacy as we know it doesn't work with a regime run by a corrupt, selfserving sociopath.
He only understands servile fawnery.

Dear Shabana,
I notice today that you referred to me in your speech on immigration at the IPPR think tank.
You said: โ€œA party leader should not be on the beaches of France encouraging people to
make a perilous crossing on small boats.โ€
I suppose I shouldnโ€™t be surprised especially after the hateful Labour campaign in Gorton
and Denton, but this is just the latest in a string of lies peddled by a discredited Government
who intentionally fan the flames of racism and division.
When I went to Calais, I was not there to encourage people to travel to the UK. I was there
to see at first hand the suffering your Government and successive Governments have done
in demonising migrants in a pathetic bid to pander to the base instincts of Reform and the
flawed strategy of Morgan McSweeney.
As you will know, if you even bothered to research my visit instead of taking Reform talking
points, I was there to witness the brutality of families living in tents in freezing temperatures. I
filled water tanks and picked up litter.
What that visit did do is confirm my belief that if we are to smash the boat gangs and stop
the boats, we need to offer safer and managed routes for migrants to come to this country.
Showing compassion as a politician is not a crime. In fact, we need to see much more of it.
It reminded me of a young MP who in October 2015 spent three days in Lesbos helping
migrants fleeing war-torn Syria. She posted videos on X, talked about handing out water and
croissants to refugees and food parcels.
When she returned to the UK, she wrote a very moving piece in the New Statesman. She
said โ€œwe have to work with our European partners and create new, safe, and legal routes for
refugees to get to Europe. We cannot abandon them to their fate, left as prey for smugglers
whilst risking death on the seas.โ€
She said โ€œmaybe we can make ourselves feel better by saying no-one is making them get on
the boats. And again, the Home Secretary is not entirely wrong when โ€ฆ

Dear Shabana,

Let's clear some things up around migration and remember we're talking about people's lives.

If you are wondering why we are laser-focused on US crimes or illegal acts, it's not that we hate the US; it is so everyone can see the consequences of a bad government and react to it, so it can be resolved. If our allies and networks consisted of North Koreans, we'd talk daily about that regime.

While Kristi Noem funneled $220M in taxpayer funds into self-promoting political ads, she refused to distribute $500M+ in FEMA funding for LA Fire survivors.

The Trump Administration must immediately release that relief and redirect those wasted ad dollars to recovery efforts.
