A montage of three photos showing an LNER Azuma train passing the new southbound platform, the concourse of the new station gateway building and David Horne, Carl Howarth and Philip Cooke of LNER wearing orange PPE standing on the new footbridge
Great to don the PPE today and get a behind the scenes tour of the new Darlington station gateway entrance and new platforms 5 & 6. Itβs going to be really impressive - and will improve punctuality by reducing the need for southbound services to cross over.
A graph of journeys growth by train operating company, the title reads LNER passenger journeys up 15% - the largest rise of any operator

The Hatfield rail crash memorial, with four lit candles, and numerous flowers.
It has been an honour to join families and survivors of the Hatfield Rail Crash in the chapel of Hatfield House for a memorial service this morning, on the 25th anniversary of the tragedy.
A plaque which reads This memorial garden has been created in memory of those who died in the Hatfield rail tragedy on October 17th, 2000. Please treat it with respect.
Afterwards we laid flowers at the memorial and at 12.23pm, the time of the crash, held a minuteβs silence. We remember the four men who died in the crash, the people who were injured and everyone who was touched by the tragedy.
