On this day in 1965, peaceful marchers in Selma, including my friend John Lewis, were beaten by state troopers for demanding the right to vote.

Being an educator means understanding how you know what you know *and* being able to explain it to other ppl in multiple ways until they also know what you know. That requires a level of patience & introspection most ppl don’t have or want to cultivate, so they punish their students or disengage.

Mark Carney refuses to ‘categorically’ rule out military involvement in Middle East conflict Speaking in the Australian capital, Carney appeared to harden Canada’s stance on the war, saying it’s too soon to call for an immediate ceasefire.

What is even happening...

Carney supports the war, then does so with regret, says it prima facie violates international law, but now won't rule out joining in.
