The best!

Itβs your road and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you. The background picture is part of a painting I am lucky to own called 'The Isles of Sinodun' by the talented artist @annadillon.bsky.social.
The best!
Thatβs me in the illustration.
Always good to hear from an historian ... ππ
Thank you, Roger ... π

June 28, 1914. A bad day in #History. A very bad day.
Not me.
You too, my friend!
Sunset in rural Suffolk.
Softly the evening came with the sunset ...
Ta, Jimbo!
Does sound idyllic!
Could be the title of a thriller.
Suffolk sunset across farmland.
It's a dreadful world in many places and for many reasons. And sometimes, I'll be honest, I come close to losing hope. Then I look at this peaceful view and it calms me. Or anaesthetises me. I certainly feel better for it, if only for a while. Night, all.
Wow! That would be something.

Roger Morehouse & Nick Short in a London pub.
I found historian Roger Morehouse in a pub in Piccadilly this evening. Honestly, you can't go anywhere for a quiet drink these days.

Thanks. That's very kind of you.
My mother never recovered. She loved him dearly and thought she was going to lose both of us for a while. She suffered a stroke two weeks after my father's death.
Sub-Lieutenant Thomas Edward (Ted) Short, RNVR. My father.
My father died in the sea in Sardinia #OTD in 1974. I was with him and just survived the undercurrent. He was 58, I was 16. I've missed him every day since. I miss the conversations we never had. The moments we never shared. And I will remember him until the day I too die.
Evening sun over a field near Lavenham in Suffolk.
And willows, willow-herb, and grass, And meadowsweet, and haycocks dry, No whit less still and lonely fair than the high cloudlets in the sky.
Lavenham Guildhall.
I shall never tire of living in this beautiful place.

Painting of Southwold in Suffolk.
A wonderful painting of #Southwold by a good - and very talented - friend of mine.
