We're sitting in a hole surrounded by rain right now but there's more headed our way. Looks like we'll have rain into late afternoon at least.
We've had 6 inches of rain since Tuesday and I am very sick of it. Happy for you, though, to be done with snow (but sad for Joey).

In 2019, the MusΓ©e Granet in Aix-en-Provance was exhibiting works my several modern sculptors. This bronze is the Portrait de Jean Planque by Alex Kosta Alex. This photo was taken looking at the portrait face to face. It looks like a bent piece of wire with two loops.
In 2019, the MusΓ©e Granet in Aix-en-Provance was exhibiting works my several modern sculptors. This bronze is the Portrait de Jean Planque by Alex Kosta Alex. This photo is a side view of the sculpture. This view clearly shows the silhouette of a person's face and the loops are their eyes or glasses.
It depends on how you look at it. #photography #sculpture #MusΓ©e_Granet

Grumble, grumble. The switch to DST always makes me mad that our stupid legislators (the progeny of the ones who wanted to round off PI) put us in the Eastern time zone, instead of Central where we belong. Tomorrow, sunrise in Boston will be at 7:08 a.m EDT and sunrise here will be at 8:05 a.m. EDT.

A cloud above the eastern Montana praire caught my eye when we were driving to Glacier National Park. This cloud has many curling and swirling shapes in its shadowed base. The top of the cloud is bright and feathery.

It was a valiant effort but Flit failed to break the record of 18 hours of refusing to go out (held by Bebo 2008-2021) in inclement weather. She made it just over 16 hours which is still quite impressive. Kudos, Flit.

A maple tree whose trunk has split into three is in the foreground. Behind it is a woods with some young beech trees still holding onto their leaves. The scene is shrouded in fog.
When it's been raining almost non-stop for over 24 hours, photo ops need to be close to home (in this case about 30 feet from the house).

Dynjandi is a bridal veil type of waterfall. The entire waterfall is made of several smaller falls and cascades over the basalt cliffs. Its beauty and delicacy are a deception. We were there in May and the snow melt was going strong, but the earlier winter storms and snow melt were so strong that the water and ice tore the rails and benches to pieces at a viewing area. I'll put a photo of the damage in a comment.
#Dynjandi, one of the most beautiful and powerful waterfalls of #Iceland. It is in the less visited #Westfjords section in the northwestern part of the country. More on the power of it in the ALT. #photography #Support_Public_Lands #waterfall

Fog rises and tops a hollow in a woods. The sun's light shines through the tree trunks, though it is still just below the ridgetop. The sky is a band of pastels going from pink to purple.
The view to west is more open but still has the rising fog and the bands of color.
Foggy #sunrise goes pastel both east and west.

The Gunnison River has been cutting its way down through layers of sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks for millions of years. The Painted Wall is a named feature on the left side of this photo. The Gunnison looks like a small stream from this viewpoint, but we were over a thousand feet above it. More information about the geology of this park is at this URL: https://www.nps.gov/blca/learn/nature/geologic-story.htm

That happened to us except it was our waterline and it was over 8000 gallons but Brown County Water did give us a sizable credit after we had it fixed (we also found out by getting an incredible bill).

Purim is a Jewish holiday, a very happy one. You can read about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purim
People (especially children) make noise during the service by spinning a device called a gregger (or grogger or gragger) whenever the name of the story's villain is said. The gregger pictured is much more elaborate than any I ever had. It is from the 19th century and is in MusΓ©e d'Art et d'Histoire du JudaΓ―sme in Paris (an excellent museum; highly recommended).
Happy Purim to all who are swinging their greggers round and round. Enjoy your hamantaschen.

A descriptively named shagbark hickory tree is encased in layer of ice. The sky was gray, the trees were gray so there was very little color to remove to make this a black and white photo. I am pretty sure that school was cancelled that day since it was a Tuesday, and I was out in the woods taking photos. No E-Learning days back in 2007.
Since it barely got above freezing yesterday, I thought I would stick around with another photo from the #ice_storm we had in 2007. #photography #trees #B&W

As a kid, it was my favorite holiday. It had it all: a happy ending story with a female hero, costumes, a service where you got marching around the synagogue making noise, and a carnival. And, of course, hamantaschen, especially the apricot ones.

βIs the 1st. no. of Bleak House generally admired? I liked the Chancery part β but where it passes into the autobiographic form and the young woman who announces she is not βbrightβ begins her history β it seems to me too often weak and twaddling β an amiable nature is caricatured β not faithfully rendered in Miss Esther Summerson.β
I looked this up some years ago looking for validation for how much I couldn't stand Esther and found some in Bronte's letters but I don't have a link. I did some searching just now and found a quote from her letters.
