Book Review: The Forever Green Lore and Legends of Kerala Sreekumari Ramachandran’s latest book on Kerala is invaluable as a reference, but it falters as a pleasurable read due to its flat, over-edited prose and lack of narrative thread.

Ah, ha! I actually read this review of it, and I think just flipping through it yesterday I can see what the writer is saying. That said, I don't think having a "cultural encyclopedia" is a bad thing, I see it as a starting point. kalampedia.org/2025/10/06/b...

I've actually got a second book about Sabarimala on order as well -- I realized I don't know enough about it, so trying to look at some different sources to be careful.

It’s from me — it’s from a 1986 Malayalam film called Pappan Priyappetta Pappan.

All the episodes are up on Hotstar, in Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi. And if I cycle through the language options while the automatic preview is playing, it changes the language.

I'm going to go check what's going on over at Hotstar, it's possible it's fine there and that's just a Hulu thing. Note to self once I'm done with music lesson.

I do have thoughts, but as an outsider I think it would be better for those directly impacted (either those on #DesiWatch or #KeralamSky) to wade in.

It was very good, sharply written, by turns absurd and bitter and funny, done well.

The President's Cake? Oh, I liked that. And I cried at the end. Actually, I liked all of those four -- F1 was the choice of our house gear-head (my partner), and I found it more engaging than I was expecting.
