Dare to ask yourself: Is there truly a place for everyone who should have a right to be there in your community?
If you're failing, just own it, then do the learning to get better.

Are they, yet again, "the only one?" We talked about this in πͺοΈSpinning Up: New Thoughts on Community + Building's first To Be Myself Completely broadast with Mita Mallick. (Please check it out - the transcript is posted).
Any part of that being true is a real shame.
The above facets of identity are all dimensions of personhood that will fundamentally influence a community member's intuition as to whether they "belong" in your community.
I've submitted conference proposals on this topic to 3 different conferences, and I can never shake the feeling that part of the reason my proposal was rejected is that the subject-matter was deemed too "controversial" to make a main stage topic of address.
Here's the field's core problem: we're still far too attached to the toxic positivist attitudes that insulate us in a flowery bubble of rainbows and friendship to admit that severe and persistent diversity issues characterize the communities we're building.
Community managers have failed to talk frankly and courageously about DEI - neuroatypicality and neurodiversity, differences of class, race, nationality, religion, gender, even technical learning debt. This is a non-exhaustive list.

I'm not being snarky btw I mean that. we can't be them and shouldn't try.
it's ok we all can't spell every word there is correctly all the time. we're not all....that dictionary person who wrote every word right and created the dictionary
piece not life lmao w/e get me a drink and name it after Taylor Swift, worlds greatest singer and dancer alive ever
no I'm just bored and sitting at this table at the bar having fun lol. I really don't care and I really do respect that people have the right to not like what I like. Ill still say my life though since I've the time
π is a good taste most days in the summer
owlmonic
lol true just like everything since literally nothing is universal in a way we can prove
u2
lol disagree. but curious what a genius lyric is to you and what genius itself is to you
lol I don't care enough I think maybe you just don't enjoy that I disagreed? who knows what's in your heart though. idk, and idc cause I can't know lol
I mean the word literal literally btw.
thank you for directly quoting me there, which is not what you did before. appreciate that.
idk. meh some things can be argued to be universally felt. sometimes they're wrong. sometimes right maybe. idc that much it's a philosophical debate with no ending
that's literally not what I replied with. lol if we have to make up what other people are saying, let's not try to even have this convo. at least directly quote me!
and no, by hate I don't mean the hate of the heart of darkness, I mean being tendentiously critical
lol well I disagree when it comes to what it means to hate on an artist. rest is fair tho
but it IS meaningful as a measure
lol not saying that. and consumption is not the only metric that matters. never said that.
yeah it really is okay
don't need another metaphor it's simple enough
a wrinkle in time like the crease by your eye
this is why they shouldn't kill off the main guy
that's a lyric by her that I think id beautifully clever and effortlessly genius that's in a simple pop song about a man she loved. it's so easy for her
lol diff tastes. I listen to a lot of music considered "good" by the musical pitchforkian press and the like and id say a lot of it isn't as good as what she's able to do with melody and lyrics, esp in pop
