The future of Hammersmith Bridge is already here: open to people, not cars.
Now, let's ensure public transport is added for those who need it. We should choose healthy neighbourhoods over 25,000 cars.

There can be some gatekeeping in the cycling community so just remember that when it comes to biking there are only two rules: Wear what you want. Ride what you want and don't let anyone tell you differently

Sticking tech into a Jaguar iPace (like Waymo) is really not the advance we think it is. Maybe when their autonomous vehicles are just the size of the person in them, and limited to 30mph, they could have a future in cities.

Our coordiantor took this video on Hammersmith Bridge in 2018. No-one should ever have to experience this.

If you think cars should be back on the bridge, please tell us how you'd stop this happening again.

Cycling home

Motorist squeezes between me and the curb within 'smack the window' distance. In a hurry to endanger my life, but plenty of time to stop, get out and berate me. "Don't get in front of me again, or I'll knock you off" he shouts. 1 motorist in 100 on my commute. Disproportionate impact.

I love cycling.

But in Kirklees I will never encourage people to ride. Especially not children or vulnerable adults. Especially not women - who experience anti-cyclist nonsense *and* misogyny. In the six years I've lived here, Kirklees council have failed to make active transport easy.

"I want everything to be an inconvenient distance away and I want to have to drive to get there," is a really weird hill to die on.
But hey, at least you're dead, I guess?

To be fair, they do hide behind placards saying β€œbring back our buses and blue lights”. But blue light responders are relaxed because their ability to respond to emergencies has not been affected. And if this were really about buses, these politicians would support

Putney Society data shows pollution is falling on Putney High Street, so it cannot be true to suggest that the bridge has made pollution worse.

Don't be fooled by the shouting: South West London is changing, and adding 25,000 cars back to Hammersmith Bridge isn't going to fix anything.

Here's a thread on the real data.
