The session will explore benefits and experiences of Men’s Sheds in Hospices and how they provide an alternative to traditional support services. We’ll learn how hospices around the UK can get started themselves.
Professor Taubert will be facilitating our informal chat on Men’s Sheds in Hospices. We’ll be joined by a user, volunteer and user family member of the Marie Curie West Midlands Hospice Men’s Shed, as well as two expert researchers.

Join speakers from the NIHR and Marie Curie who will outline the process behind the top 24 research priorities, discuss why each priority was selected by the NIHR and provide an overview of the NIHR programmes participating in the rolling call. There will be plenty of time for discussion.
In February 2025, a refresh of the palliative and end of life care research priorities, guided by people with lived and professional experience, was launched. The NIHR have a rolling call of funding which they invite research proposals related to selected priorities.

In continuation with previous years, we will be presenting four awards. Two are now open for nomination of any researcher in the palliative and end of life care field:

· Provide an overview of the palliative caseload of HSCTs
· Identify core duties of the palliative care key worker role, and how it could be best utilised as part of a wider integrated community care model.
A grant of up to £50K is available for research that aims to:
· Estimate the number of community based palliative care key worker staff in each Health and Social Care Trust (HSCT)
