We three hams of Bluesky we are,
Using waves we converse afar.

Bouncing off meteors,
Oops, my SWR went too far!

Now after the wise men had left, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, βGet up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him.β
NRSV-CE, Mt 2:13β15.

I feel seen...
WOW! The photographer caught a picture of me giving communion to my mother, Clara Cory! - amybridges.smugmug.com/ChristChurch...
The Christ Church Cathedral staff (specifically Amy Bridges) also did a phenomenal job capturing still pictures! - amybridges.smugmug.com/ChristChurch...
For those who may be interested, the ordination service was livestreamed and recorded by Christ Church Cathedral. It is available on YouTube. Their media staff did a PHENOMENAL job! - www.youtube.com/live/xuiNdp7...
@karanslade.bsky.social You were quoted by the Rev. Dr. Jennifer Woodruff Tate at my ordination to the diaconate Saturday as a reminder that we are to "preach the ding-dang Gospel". β€οΈ
The human tragedy of the war is terrible, but I think it is also important to remember how the war is affecting animal life, too. This is absolutely heartbreaking.
Awesome witness!
St. Basil the Great (4th century), in a sermon on debt and lending: "Tell me, do you really seek riches and financial gain from the destitute? If this person had the resources to make you even wealthier, why did he come begging to your door? He came seeking an ally, but found an enemy."
βI was hungryβ and you cut SNAP.
βI was thirstyβ and you cut funding to ensure clean water.
βI was sickβ and you cut medicaid.
βI was a strangerβ and you deported me.
βI was in prisonβ and you just left me there to rot.
βWhatever you do to the least of these, you do unto me.β-Jesus
While I appreciate "congratulations", I would appreciate your prayers that I grow into the ministry to which I am being called and ordained even more. I also ask the same prayers for Melanie McDaniel Yankey, Anna Erickson Baumann, and all those in lay or ordained ministries in the church.
I don't know what you are going through, but I will hold you in my prayers. π’ππ The discernment and formation process can sometimes be more damaging and abusive than it should be. I have felt it, as have others, but nothing seems to change.
Working on it. I need to get back to tracking my intake again to be sure, though.
According to my nurse practitioner, I'm NOT getting enough protein. She told me to increase from an average of 72 grams a day to at least 80 g, or even 100 g, if I can do so.
Could be.
I find it very insightful to dissect my dreams. They often give me insights into what is going on subconsciously. Having said that, I wonder why I dreamed about my mother buying three BEAUTIFUL cast iron skillets in three different sizes last night.
I did take a minute for this to register fully for me. But when it did... π€―
I have already been gifted several clerical shirts by a ministry mentor. Black, blue striped, and grey. I also purchased a light blue guayabera-style clerical shirt for the summer (humidity can get to me!).
God willing, people consenting, and the creek don't rise, if I am ordained within the next year, I plan to use the chasubles (and matching stoles) from the parish when I wear a chasuble. Stoles, however, I would like to have on my own for when I don't wear the chasuble.
This is one of many reasons I am grateful for my monastic brothers and sisters!
I also updated my response to the original.
I am more a range person.
I have discomfort with SOME of the Articles (XVII, somewhat XXII, portions of XXV [last paragraph], somewhat XXXVIII, as I am somewhat socialist in leaning).
I had proposed doing a Vigil service at sunrise but I was vetoed. Thinking about the early rising aspect, I'm now grateful. π
1984 was supposed to be a warning, not a handbook.
I am thinking more along the hermit lines, but I would not object to being close to a progressive monastic community in the woods.
