GRIEF AND PAIN
Two Indigenous women hold each other by the forearms as they dance for a Sweetheart Special. One is a fancy shawl dancer in her regalia without her cape and shawl, and the other is dressed as a cowgirl. They are looking at each other and smiling. The two women are starkly contrasted against the pale background which includes geometric patterns in the colors of the medicine wheel and a square in the middle that is the colors of a sky at sunset.
I wanna reupload what is still one of my favorite Illustrations I've ever done. This is "Sweetheart Special" done for Calamity Women: Cowgirls Art Book in 2020 :)
I think I've grown a lot as an artist and a person since this piece, but it will always hold a special place in my heart.
