I've sadly had the opposite case: much of the solo code that was contracted for various teams I later joined had to be completely thrown out because the salvage time would have taken longer than the rewrite and review time.

I think it's fair to say we're both shaped by our experiences.

I've seen too many -force deployments by eng with more experience than myself (who should know better) to trust unreviewed code.
