I was so touched by all the kind messages I received yesterday. It has given me a lot of encouragement for what will now be a big swing:

My next animated project will be the first episode of a gothic horror interpretation of the Nutcracker called "Clara and the Below."

(I can’t be thinking about this book as much as I am!!!! It’s in the wrong time period for my research but it’s got its hooks in me nonetheless lol)

It just bothers me that some people apparently feel the need to discount Heathcliff and Cathy’s romance (it was toxic af but they loved each other as well as they could) to address the other elements
Gothic romance is a thing, I assure you lol

AND a story of intergenerational trauma due to societal, racial, and gender constraints on people who then go inflict pain on others. But the romance is part of that and needs to be, because it’s at the core of the rift in these families. And I think the key is being a romance doesn’t make it lesser

While I understand the incoming critiques of “WH” the movie ignoring most of the book to just be a romance (very not good), I think some people are jettisoning the idea that the book is *also* a romance too quickly.
It is in fact a dark love story!

I really do think this is an excellent metaphor for the moment.

Of all the easy things you can do to help the environment, conserve water for communities not corporations, not perpetuate scams, support the labor and rights of creators... *not* using generative AI is the fucking easiest. You absolutely deserve to be shamed for using it for image and text creation
