Long Journey news - Half-Life: Through The City mod for Half-Life 2: Episode Two A long awaited article update for Through The City. In this article I'll be covering the progress that's been done on the mod, as well as a reveal of other unrelated projects!

Have you consider trying different lighting styles? All of your levels look incredible and I personally am a big fan of blue/red combinations but I always been concerned if areas would not end up looking repetitive with the same color scheme. I know the canyon area has different more warm colors

So about a year ago I decided I wanted to make HL2 remaster, where primarily I would focus on changing the visual aspects of all the maps to feel fresh and more modern while also retaining the core aesthetic and feel of HL2 at the same time, this is only W.I.P But I wanted to share it!!! ^,..,^

Progress #4 for Through The City map. I tweaked the height of a bunch of platforms and started giving the tiny details like stairs, and textures for the ground replacing the overly giant dirt displacements

Initial idea of the map

This is the second version, going towards more heavy combat encounters and less of the extensive puzzle solving. It's there for pacing sake as this is just the second half of the existing map, no need for the area to be so extensive

This is the third version I got to think of. It returns the crane puzzle but the progression is a lot more straight forward and the pacing doesn't drag-on (hehe) unnecessarily too much

Progress #3 and I'm already changing direction behind the map. As I started to get to another section I realized a lot of the ideas I had that sounded cool on paper may not really work in execution, so I changed the direction. The first image was the original idea, the next two is the new one

Been silent for some time but wanted to give an update here in regards Through The City! The first segment of the last map for Chapter 1 is already complete and playtested some time ago. Now I'm making section where Adrian goes through underground tunnels. Very excited on how this turns out ✌️🐲
